Olivia Newton-John’s final song: Fans heartbroken listening to star's 'Jolene' duet with Dolly Parton

BRENTWOOD, NASHVILLE: Olivia Newton-John's final recording of a song was a duet with her long-time friend Dolly Parton. Newton-John and Parton paired to sing the latter's all-time classic hit from the 1974 album 'Jolene.' The four-time Grammy-winning Newton-John died at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer on August 8, 2022.

The beautiful rendition of Jolene starring the late Newton-John and Queen of country, Parton was released on February 17. The hit smash will be featured on the 'Grease' singer’s album, 'Just the Two of Us: The Duets Collection', out May 5, according to New York Post. The long-time friends recorded the song a few months before Newton-John's death.

'She was always there for me!'

The legendary duo became friends after Newton-John won the Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1974. The iconic songstress is still the only non-American-born artist to win that trophy. “I have always wanted to record with Dolly,” Newton-John said during an interview in 2021, according to a news release.

“She was always there for me and what she did for me early on in my career in Nashville is something I will never forget,” Newton-John said. “I’m so excited to be working with Olivia Newton-John, one of my favorites of all time,” Parton said in the clip. “We’ve always kind of stayed close through the years, and I am just so proud to be a part of this duet project that she’s doing,” reported the source.
