'Beauty is all shapes and sizes': Fans back Ariana Grande as she responds to body shamers who trolled her for being 'too skinny'
BOCA RATON, FLORIDA: Ariana Grande shared on TikTok her thoughts on people making comments about other people's appearances, including her own, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The Grammy-winning artist sought to "address concerns" and "talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body, and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to."
In recent weeks, Grande has been filming the 'Wicked' remake in London and has had to deal with criticism on social media from viewers who have called attention to her weight and claimed that her face has transformed over time. After some fans complained that she appeared "too thin" in recent images, the 'Thank U, Next' singer reassured them that she is "healthy," reports Page Six.

'You never know what someone is going through'
In a three-minute TikTok video, the pop star, 29, got candid and urged her fans to exercise more restraint while commenting on other people's appearances. Grande sported a white handbag across her body like jewelry, with her lightened hair pulled back firmly to frame her flawlessly prepared face and shiny lips. She began by saying, "I don't do this often. I don't like it. I'm not good at it. But I just wanted to address your concerns about my body, and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to."
"There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful. And personally, for me, the body that you've been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body," the 'Snowflake, the White Gorilla' alum continued, adding, "I was on a lot of anti-depressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that, in fact, wasn't my healthy."

The Grammy-winning singer continued by saying that although she shouldn't have to discuss her health problems, "something good might come" from being honest and transparent. Grande added, "Healthy can look different."
"The second thing is you never know what someone is going through, so even if you're coming from a loving place or a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they're working on it with. You never know, so be gentle with each other and yourselves," the 'Bang Bang' singer added.
Grande also expressed her gratitude to her followers by telling them, "You're beautiful no matter what phase you're in." At the end of the video, the 'Victorious' alum said, "Sending you guys a lot of love, and I think you're beautiful no matter what you're going through, no matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you've had — or not — or anything. I just think you're beautiful and wanted to share some feelings. Have a very beautiful day, and I'm sending you a lot of love."
An adaptation of the popular Broadway musical 'Wicked' for the big screen in two parts is currently being worked on by Grande. She discussed her personal growth earlier this month as she approached the midway mark of the filming.
'She’s an Angel on earth'
Fans on social media took to the comments section to support the 'Into You' singer. One fan commented, "She’s an Angel on earth and doesn’t deserve this type of treatment." Another one wrote, "Everyone leave mother ALONE and mind your own business."
One fan wrote, "She mothered that more than anybody else of all the artists i have seen experiencing body shaming, only her had the courage to quickly address something big as that." Another fan scolded individuals who body-shamed the singer by commenting, "SHAME ON YOU! yes all of you that hated on this woman that literally does nothing wrong. I'm glad and the happiest that she clarified it. So much love."
Someone else posted on Twitter, "Being skinny is ok Not being skinny is ok Having curves is ok Not having curves is ok Bashing someone for their body type is not okay. Your body is not wrong. Society is. Body shaming is a horrible reality. We need to empower each other #ArianaGrande."
Another user tweeted supporting Grande and said, "Telling someone to "eat a burger" because they are too skinny is the same thing as telling someone to "go to the gym" because they are too fat when you don't know what they're going through! Like #ArianaGrande beauty is all shapes and sizes! PERIODT!"
Another social media user addressing a similar body-shaming incident faced by Selena Gomez tweeted, "The body shaming Ariana grande and Selena Gomez endure is just sad. People make fun of Ariana for being to skinny and people make fun of Selena for looking too big. It’s sad both of these women have to address these issues. Selena and Ariana are both beautiful inside and out."
