LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: ‘The Flash’ director Andy Muschietti is at the receiving end of netizens’ ire as he had nothing but praises for the star of the movie Ezra Miller. While launching the second trailer of the latest production of DC Universe, Muschietti praised Miller, who has been receiving social media criticism for unacceptable behavior including arrests and court appearances.

Muscietti said at CinemaCon 2023, Miller, who uses ‘they/them’ pronouns, as "one of the best actors I've ever worked with." He further added about the 30-year-old actor, "They are an incredible actor," he said. "I had a chance to work with one of the best actors I've ever worked with. They bring the emotion, the humor. They wanted to do all the stunts, and I let them,” reports People.

However, even if the director of the movie was all praises for the actor, the netizens didn’t take kindly to his praising the DC star. Apart from Miller, the film also stars Michael Keaton as Batman, Michael Shannon as General Zod, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne. The film is all set to hit the theaters on June 16.

Why is the audience angry with Miller?

Miller reportedly has been charged with multiple cases throughout the last decade. They were first charged with marijuana possession in 2011 which was later dismissed by the judge. In 2022, Miller delivered a controversial message to the Ku Klux klan in a now deleted Instagram post where they wrote,  "Look, if y'all want to die, I suggest just killing yourselves with your own guns. OK?" before adding, "Otherwise, keep doing exactly what you're doing right now — and you know what I am talking about — then, you know, we'll do it for you, if that's really what you want. Talk to you soon, OK. Bye," says The Hollywood Reporter. In 2022, they were charged with numerous charges of grooming, assault, etc.

'I can't seperate the art from the artist with Ezra'

A user commented, "We’re talking about the same person who has multiple assault and grooming charges and arrests??" Another argued, "Their contributions are constant." Yeah, so are their assault charges." The third reasoned, "I know they say that you have to separate the person with the actor but he crosses the limit."

Another fan bemoaned saying, "Okay... but also an actual creep outside of being an actor like I can't seperate the art from the artist with Ezra (despite the fact that I had enjoyed everything they've been in prior)." Another dissenter commented, "Warner Brothers paid a ton of money to make EM’s legal issues disappear now they’re pushing a positive spin as if the grooming, assaults and harassment never happened to save this movie. HW’s moral compass at its best. Hard pass."

"They are trying to put them in a positive light so they can sale the film to us. I uses to like them until they started being wild and breaking laws," remarked someone else. Another turned vitriloic as they said, "Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting how Ezra has managed to get away with so much when people have lost everything for less."
