Will Evangeline Lilly be booted from MCU? Actress trolled for anti-vax post: 'She's LOST'
Marvel Studios has had quite a headache with Letitia Wright after the British actress turned out to be a vocal anti-vaxxer. Now it appears another key cast of the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has similar feelings about vaccination - Evangeline Lilly. The actress, who plays Hope Van Dyne has become the latest to publicly support medical freedom, and needless to say, the internet wasn't impressed.
As we reported, the Wright saga has left Marvel's 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' in quite a conundrum. Wright's refusal to get jabbed did raise concerns for her return to the US to finish shooting, an issue she seems to have overcome. Nonetheless, her vocal anti-vax stance enraged fans, with many calling on her to be recast, even though Ryan Coogler and the team shot most of the movie. We've speculated it could be her last appearance in the MCU, with rumors Disney tweaked the ending to ensure Shuri doesn't reappear.

Thankfully for Marvel though, they might not have to go through the whole process for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'. The upcoming film, slated to release in 2023 has already completed principal photography with only post-production left. But the question remains whether Hope will return in future installments, as many have speculated after her rather controversial Instagram post.
'I am pro-choice today'
On January 27, Lilly uploaded a photo from the Washington DC anti-vax rally, where Robert F. Kennedy controversially compared the situation to the holocaust. That January 23 rally featured a large number of anti-vaxxers gathered at the National Mall and it seems like Lilly was one of them as well. "I was in DC this weekend to support bodily sovereignty," she wrote in a lengthy caption, adding, "I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will... under any threat whatsoever."
She concluded the caption by saying "I was pro-choice before COVID and I am still pro-choice today," and added the hashtags #medicalfreedom and #bodyautonomy" and uploaded several photos from the protest. She also uploaded a quote by Indian-American investor Naval Ravikant, saying, "All tyranny begins with the desire to coerce others for the greater good."
It's the first time Lilly has vocally come out in support of medical freedom, but it may just be her last. While Wright was forced to shut down her social media accounts due to the excessive trolling, it appears as if Lilly has resisted, at least for now. Nonetheless, fans of the actress and the internet, in general, had plenty to say, and most of it wasn't good.
'Evangeline WTF you doing'
"Evangeline Lilly risking her career by opposing abusive, anti-constitutional, and vindictive vaccine mandates. You can bet the Left will now try to destroy her. Marvel Star Evangeline Lilly Protests Vax Mandates: “This Is Not Healthy”," one user tweeted. Another cried, "God we can’t have any good women scientist heroes in the MCU. Evangeline WTF you doing?" There were also plenty of hits at recasting, with one user saying, "Society has progressed past the need of having evangeline lilly as the wasp in the mcu. time to focus on THE REAL WASP aka Michelle Pfeiffer."

One person trolled, "I find it funny that both Letitia Wright and Evangeline Lilly are supposed to be playing smart characters." Another joked, "Keep Evangeline Lilly away from Paul Rudd at all costs He hasn’t lived for centuries to be taken down by her unwashed and unvaccinated self." 'Lost' jokes were also made, with one person tweeting, "Ugh. Evangeline Lilly gained popular acclaim for her first leading role as Kate Austen in the series Lost. She attended the DC anti-vaxx rally with RFK Jr. Yep, she’s LOST."

Many users also came out in support of Lilly, but at the moment, those against her far outnumbered those in support of her. It's important to note that Lilly didn't shun the vaccines altogether, as Wright did, but rather supported the ability for people to chose. It's a key difference between being an anti-vaxxer and being pro-medical freedom.
