'ENTWURF': NMIXX announce 1st comeback after ‘worst’ debut, fans say 'reputation era'

Fans claim JYPE's new group NMIXX has the strongest vocal line among 4th-gen groups but their debut did not allow them to showcase their potential

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: JYPE's girl group NMIXX’s introduction to K-pop was pretty innovative with their blind pre-orders and pre-debut performances but the debut got a mixed reception. K-pop fans trust JYPE when it comes to forming talented idol groups as seen in the case of 2PM, Wonder Girls, GOT7, TWICE, Stray Kids, and Itzy. And so, many were excited for NMIXX's debut. Unfortunately, their debut ‘O.O’ was labeled as the "worst song" not only by fans but also by critics and official media platforms like DailyMail. But it seems that it was all noise marketing as expectations are high for ‘ENTWURF’.

While there are several successful K-pop songs of the noise genre like Stray Kids’ 'Thunderous’ or aespa’s ‘Savage’, NMIXX’s take on noise music did not pay off. Many were confused if two completely different songs had been meshed together to create ‘O.O’. Fans, who know of NMIXX’s talents, felt it was unfair to the girls to be given such a bad song. But those who trust JYPE’s marketing strategy feel that NMIXX's true debut which will showcase their potential will take place through their first comeback ‘ENTWURF’ which is German for a blueprint or new design.

NMIXX to make first comeback with ‘ENTWURF’

On August 21, 2022, JYPE announced that following their debut in February, NMIXX will be making their first comeback with the single ‘ENTWURF’. It will be released on September 19 at 6 pm KST (5 am ET) on all music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn, and more. The girls released a teaser poster of a silhouette of a baroque-style stage in neon pink and green. With NMIXX creating a new Twitter account and warning fans to stay away from it, many think they are going for an alter-ego concept that has been pretty popular in K-pop as seen with X-EXO or Hala-Ateez.

‘NMIXX is really talented’

And it looks like everyone is ready to give NMIXX a second chance as they have time and again proved themselves as singers with live covers of songs by Blackpink, Sunmi, Stray Kids, Bruno Mars, and more. In fact, the girls are currently trending and going viral for their live performances at KCON LA 2022 on August 22. Knetz made comments like, “I love this, but I am hoping they come up with something more easy-listening…” Another shared, “I'm looking forward to this song because NMIXX is really talented…” 

Fans made tweets like, “Sullyoon, Haewon, and Lily of NMIXX’s live high notes during their cover of SEVENTEEN’s “Very Nice” at KCON LA 2022.” Another fan said, “Nmixx reputation era fr.” One fan posted, “For #NMIXX stans… they’re HELLA synchronized!!!!”

Another was confident, “The comeback is gonna be WAY vocal heavy than O.O and Tank after all the hype surrounding NMIXX's vocals for sure.” Another hoped, “Nmixx have such promising vocals,,, probably even have the best vocal line in 4th gen !! buttt jyp just had to waste that opportunity !! i hope they dont mess it up this time.”
