'Encore' Episode 5 began at Florida's Satellite High School with eight middle-aged people who had once enthralled the audience with their stage performances in high school. What set out to be a rendition of 'Annie Get Your Gun' quickly turned into soap opera with oodles of drama, feelings of resentment, anger, and anxiety.

Castmates Alfie and Ameigh were high-school sweethearts but they didn't end amicably. While Alfie moved on, went on to make a name for himself as a barbershop owner, Ameigh studied to become an obstetrician-gynecologist. They parted ways, but somewhere Ameigh was looking for that closure. She was desperate to know what happened between them.

While rehearsing the musical, Ameigh expressed an interest in playing Annie, the central character and also Frank's (Alfie) love interest. She auditioned for the role but lost to Laine, who originally played it. Later, Ameigh and Alfie tried to make peace with their strained past. He made a genuine effort and was apologetic about what he had done. But, Ameigh couldn't move past the fact that Alfie had cheated on her with a girl from the theatre group.

''The 17-year-old me is sorry,'' Alfie said but Ameigh wanted to get more words out of him. However, Ameigh hugged him and left only to confide in David that she will never find the closure she is looking for.

Amid all the high school drama, Chris struggles with his job and the interview calls that keep interrupting his practice sessions with the rest of the team. Laine has been going for therapy and says that's how it's going to be for her till the end of her days, while Bella opened up on how difficult her life had gotten after each birth as she continued to grapple with postpartum depression.

But, the best bit was they were able to overlook their shortcomings and troubles of life to come together to recreate such a special production. After the play was over, Alfie promised to pursue his love for acting and said he would not give up this time. Meanwhile, others and their family members were both and proud to see their special ones perform with so much ease and confidence.
