On 3rd January, Emma Watson reshared a post from @basactivistcollective which irked one of Israel's UN representatives. This post's image is from a pro-Palestinian rally that highlights a text banner that reads, "Solidarity is a verb."

Gilad Erdan, who is the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, raised some questions against the Harry Potter star's decision to share this post and being so open about her views. Ambassador Erdan took to his Twitter and shared a screenshot of Emma Watson's post from Instagram.

He tweeted, "Fiction may work in Harry Potter but it does not work in reality. If it did, the magic used in the wizarding world could eliminate the evils of Hamas (which oppresses women & seeks the annihilation of Israel) and the PA (which supports terror). I would be in favor of that!"

Emma Watson's post was captioned with a long quote, “Solidarity does not assume that our struggles are the same struggles, or that our pain is the same pain, or that our hope is for the same future. Solidarity involves commitment, and work, as well as the recognition that even if we do not have the same feelings, or the same lives, or the same bodies, we do live on common ground.” —Sara Ahmed"

Under Ambassador Gilad Erdan's tweet, several users have left their opinions as comments. One user wrote, "I got on YouTube and watched numerous videos on the history of Israel over the last century. At the end of the day, the Palestinian people were shoved under the bus. So when a person can learn about your conflict from a days worth of YouTube, don't over value your position."

Another user put out his opinion by saying, "There is no such thing as a Palestinian! That was a manufactured country by the British and Europeans that lasted 28 years from 1920 to 1948! They are Arab Israeli now, and they are doing just fine!"

Comparing the conflict with a more relatable situation, one Twitter user said, "If you came to my house and said my ancestors lived here thousands of years ago so it's mine, would I politely agree and give you the keys to my house or would I resist? Ooooh it's a tough decision!!!! The Palestinians have a right to resist, resistance is not terrorism"

Another user said, "Your right. Magic would have wiped out the genocidal policies of Israel. Magic would have treated Palestininans with dignity and respect. Magic would have meant innocent people not being I discriminatly killed by IDF and Israel."
