Harry Potter fans get Christmas gift as Emma Watson shares reunion photo of old schoolmates from Hogwarts at party
Fans of ‘Harry Potter’ received a beautiful surprise on Instagram Wednesday. Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise uploaded a reunion photo.
Captioned “Merry Christmas from us,” the photo featured Tom Felton who played Draco Malfoy, Evanna Lynch who played Luna Lovegood, Bonnie Wright who played Ginny Weasley, and Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom in the films.
In the photo, the group appeared to be at a Christmas party. Lewis commented on the photo saying, “That waxwork of me is very effective.” Photos from the same gathering were also uploaded by Tom Felton on his Instagram account.
His post was captioned, “Seasons greetings from my school mates. @mattdavelewis and I mid debate x #gryfindorVSslytherin,” implying the two actors were having a discussion about their characters’ respective houses in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry -- Gryffindor and Slytherin.
In the books and films, the two houses were archrivals. Most mysteriously Daniel Radcliffe who played the titular character, and Rupert Grint who played his best friend Ron Weasley in the films were missing from the action.
The last Harry Potter film was ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II’ that released in July 2011. Since then, the spinoff film series ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ has graced the big screen in two volumes.
Three more are in store. The book and film franchise has earned global popularity and has become ubiquitous with fantasy literature and films, and popular culture in general.
On December 16, Watson announced on Instagram about a collaboration with The Book Fairies in regards to her film, ‘Little Women’. She wrote, “I'm excited to reveal a global effort with @bookfairiesworldwide to hide 2,000 copies of Little Women! #LWBookFairies starts today and features over a hundred different editions of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel to celebrate the release of #LittleWomenMovie, every one of which has a special note from me inside. 38 countries are involved in the campaign, and it’s going to be the largest book fairy event ever - follow the hashtag to see where they are being hidden over the next few days! Do you believe in book fairies?”
