After CEO Elon Musk on Saturday, December 3, added the feature of live tweeting, Matt Taibbi, author of ‘Griftopia,’ ‘The Divide,’ ‘The Business Secrets of Drug Dealing,’ and ‘Hate Inc.’  was among the first ones to use the feature with his cryptic tweet, “Thread: THE TWITTER FILES” where he detailed how Twitter started to control the political narrative. He wrote, “The Twitter Files, Part One: How and Why Twitter Blocked the Hunter Biden Laptop Story."

Taibbi continued to write, "On October 14, 2020, the New York Post published BIDEN SECRET EMAILS, an expose based on the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop:Twitter Blocked the Hunter Biden Laptop Story." He went on to say, "Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be 'unsafe.' They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography."

However, his series of tweets quickly came under the radar and got bashed. One wrote, "We knew it." While another commented, "Jeeezus. You're complaining about an NY Post piece that wasn't treated as gospel? Newflash, Matt: the NY Post ain't journalism. It's gossip. Evidence doesn't matter there, clicks do. And it's run with WAY more prejudice (to the right, courtesy of Rupert Murdoch) than Twitter." One more said, "So basically Twitter had a content moderation team that couldn’t verify Biden laptop story as factual. So they did their job. Absolutely Scandalous."

The trolling continued with one asking, "Can someone let me know when this epic Matt Taibbi thread is finally completed, like around tomorrow afternoon…" "It’s called the State Actor Doctrine, Matt. It’s pretty basic," tweeted another.
