Ellen Degeneres to go on three-city, eight-night stand-up tour for Netflix special
Ellen DeGeneres is heading to the Bay Area, to kick-start her three-city, eight-night stand-up tour in August. This is going to be her first stand up comedy show in the last 15 years, with her Seattle performances even getting filmed for her first ever Netflix comedy special.
DeGeneres' tour - which is to be presented by Live Nation - is a string of stand-ups launching on August 10 at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. It then moves to San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall on August 15, and the concluding act of the string will take place at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
The filmed events from the Seattle dates are to be aired on Netflix later this year. Pre-sale tickets for the shows are going to be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan platform in “an effort to ensure tickets get into the hands of fans rather than bots,” according to the latest news release.
To acquire the pre-sale tickets, fans have to register in advance. The registration will run through 10 pm on June 17, and registered fans will be able to shop for those pre-sale tickets from June 19 to June 21, as long as the supplied last. The remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 am on June 22, on Live Nation.
Live Nation also tweeted about the upcoming event on their official Twitter page, with a link to the Ticketmaster platform where the tickets can be bought. "Comedy icon Ellen DeGeneres is returning to the stand-up stage for her first tour in 15 years! Performing for 3 nights at Davies Symphony Hall - Aug 15, 16 & 17. Register as a Ticketmaster Verified Fan NOW thru Sunday to get exclusive Presale access at https://verifiedfan.ticketmaster.com/ellendegeneres."
“I’m doing my first standup shows in 15 years,” DeGeneres tweeted announcing the news. “I’m coming to Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego. Come see me.”
Here are DeGeneres’ tour dates:
August 10: San Diego, Balboa Theatre
August 11: San Diego, Balboa Theatre
August 12: San Diego, Balboa Theatre
August 15 – San Francisco, Davies Symphony Hall
August 16 – San Francisco, Davies Symphony Hall
August 17 – San Francisco, Davies Symphony Hall
August 22 – Seattle, Benaroya Hall
August 23 – Seattle, Benaroya Hall
Degeneres will be joining the likes of Sarah Silverman, Donald Glover, Chris Rock, Chelsea Peretti, Trevor Noah, Hasan Minhaj and several other comedians whose stand up specials have aired on the streaming website. There have been over a 100 such comedians whose stand up specials have made it to the website, with 2018 itself contributing for 23 of them.
Of all those, John Mulaney's “Kid Gorgeous at Radio City” has gained rave reviews, mostly because of how he continues to be the butt of all jokes throughout the session. He might be confessing his deepest, darkest secrets on the stage, but the prose and imagery in his stand up really set him apart.
