Ellen DeGeneres reminds Blake Shelton that 'time is ticking' and suggests a way he could propose to Gwen Stefani
'The Voice' coach Blake Shelton appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' this week and the host graciously reminded him of an old almost-present she had given him during one of his previous appearances on the show and pressured him to pop the question to his girlfriend of four years, Gwen Stefani.
Stefani, who is set to be replaced by Nick Jonas for the next season of 'The Voice', first met and became friends with Shelton on the sets of 'The Voice' in 2014, but it wasn't until 2015 that the two began to be linked together romantically.
This week, before Shelton told Ellen that Gwen Stefani is the sexiest coach on the music reality show -- and not himself or John Legend who were both chosen as People's Sexiest Man Alive -- Ellen reminded him of the analog clock -- with a picture of Stefani and Shelton kissing -- she had given him on a previous appearance to tell him that "time is ticking" on his proposal to Stefani.
Shelton quickly rebutted saying that Ellen's team did not let Shelton keep that clock after the taping of the show and added that the show is probably using the clock to do "same crap to [other guests] and embarrass them.” Ellen then joked that a clock was given to Jennifer Lopez and that now she is engaged to Alex Rodriguez.
Shelton also added that 'The Voice' was filming the blind auditions for Season 18 and joked that Nick Jonas is a "super-nice guy [but] a sucky coach" and added, "a lot of these girls are making terrible decisions."
Ellen then told Shelton that he could guest-host an episode of 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' and invite Stefani as one of his guests so he could propose to her.
Shelton was previously married to fellow country singer Miranda Lambert, while Stefani was previously married to British musician Gavin Rossdale from 2002 to 2016. Stefani and Shelton both filed for divorce from their previous partners in 2015, the same year they started dating.
