It's not uncommon for sports stars to have a secondary source of income. Many, like Naomi Osaka, dabble with modeling. Others like Michael Jordan have their own line of sneakers. Basketball star Elizabeth Cambage on the other hand has opted for a more controversial route - OnlyFans. On November 26, Cambage officially joined the adult entertainment platform saying, "Every other girl is on OnlyFans at the moment, all the influencers, so I thought just do it."

The platform has garnered a lot of interest since its release, not just amongst sex workers driven out of work by the pandemic, but also celebrities. From Cardi B to Bella Thorne, there are quite a few stars using the platform. A large number of teachers and nurses have also decided to try their hand at modeling via OnlyFans, leading many to quit their primary job altogether. It's become a household name, and indeed a go-to for thousands looking to make a quick buck.

But surely money isn't the concern when you are one of the highest-payed players in the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA). She's currently on a $221,450 salary with the Las Vegas Aces. So why then, would she join OnlyFans? Hear it straight from her.

'I was so scared'

"The amount of money I could be making off OnlyFans is crazy, what am I doing sitting here?" she mulled back in April 2021. Eventually, though she decided to go through with it, after a series of personal and professional setbacks. In July, she was reprimanded by Basketball Australia for a heated exchange during a July 2021 game against Nigeria, and also withdrew from the Opals citing mental health concerns.

She also skipped the 2020 Summer Olympics over the same. In September, she tested positive for Covid-19 with minor symptoms, putting her in isolation for a few weeks. Cambage has been off the court for quite a while, so clearly she wanted to try other things. And in the past, she's been quite open about her sexuality. "As a female athlete, I feel like I’m not allowed to be sexy and I’m not allowed to be that person. All society wants from me is to sit down, shut up, go to training and play my sport," she told Playboy in 2020.

"I was so scared to actually do it. But I had my friends and family push me and say don't worry what anyone says – people are either going to love you or hate you regardless," she told The Herald Sun about her move. But in the end, it appears the money prevailed. The net was quick to react, and many fans were more than pleased with her decision.

'I’m bout to break the bank'

"Liz Cambage about to trick y’all into signing up for her OnlyFans just for her to be on there doing random EDM DJ sets," one person joked. Another hinted, "I might skip Thanksgiving with family and just spend a day in bed with Liz Cambage's Onlyfans." Another lamented, "Liz Cambage onlyfans I’m bout to break the bank."

"I woke up this morning to the great news of Liz Cambage now has an onlyfans. It’s time to put this cocoa butter to work on this fine thanksgiving," one user tweeted. Another commented, "Liz Cambage dropped the Onlyfans link. That's the only thing that matters tonight." One user said, "Liz Cambage has an onlyfans dude i’m crying."

At the time of reporting, her subscription is free, but it's highly unlikely to stay that way for long. Fellow Australian sports star Renee Gracie, a race driver also joined the site back in 2020, and in August revealed she's made around $10 million since doing so. So needless to say, Cambage is in for a huge payday.
