NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Leonardo Dicaprio's rumored girlfriend Eden Polani, who shares a 29-year age gap with the 48-year-old actor, has deactivated her Instagram account. The move comes only hours after a source close to the 'Titanic' actor denied claims of the rumored couple dating. The romance speculation began soon after the actor and the 19-year-old model were seen seating next to each other at a music party held in Los Angeles on January 31. 

Polani, who has yet to address the rumors herself, was seen jetting into New York alone on Tuesday, February 6 and by Wednesday morning, her Instagram was deleted. However, before taking down her social media account, the French-Israeli model shared an image from a New York hotel room on her Instagram stories. “Long time no see,” she captioned the photo alongside tagging the location as “New York.” The image was mysteriously removed as well before she ultimately left the social media platform. Meanwhile, upon her arrival at JFK airport on Tuesday, Polani sported an effortless no-make-up look as she carried a $3,800 Dior tote and wore a $475 Celine baseball cap, as per the Daily Mail.

What exactly happened?

The rumored couple sparked dating rumors after being snapped seating next to each other at Riley Montana's album release party. However, the claim was immediately shut down by a source close to Dicaprio, according to a media outlet. "Leo and Eden just so happened to have been seated next to each other at the party, and were hanging in the same group… Just because Leo might be talking to or sitting with a girl don't mean he's dating her," they told People. 

'Dating a near-child, again?'

This comes following an online outrage over the controversial age gap between the two as well as Dicaprio's dating habits. The 'Shutter Island' actor was previously linked with Victoria Lamas, 23, who is 25 years his junior and almost half his age. Moreover, his last serious girlfriend was Camila Morrone who was notably dumped weeks after turning 25. These instances have led to the theory that Dicaprio has a preference for girls who are 25 years old or younger. 

The internet was quick to comment on Dicaprio and Polani's rumored romance soon after the snaps from the LA party got viral. "How is #LeonardoDiCaprio dating a near-child, again? Who lets him near them? My Dad and I have a substantially smaller age gap than #DiCaprio has with his new girlfriend, #EdenPolani Why would that be an appealing.... never mind," a Twitter user wrote. "Leo (48), Eden Polani (19) Pedro pascal (47), Bella Ramsey (19) David Harbour (47), Millie Bobby Brown (18) just to really illustrate that gap," another tweet read. Some fans go on to point out that the ITM model was not even born when the actor's hit movie 'Titanic' was released in 1997. "Leonardo DiCaprio's 19-year-old girlfriend Eden Polani when Titanic was released," a third tweet read.
