'Earwig and the Witch' Full Cast List: Meet Richard E Grant, Kacey Musgraves, Dan Stevens and rest of the stars from Studio Ghibli's 3D movie
'Earwig and the Witch', the first 3D animated film from Studio Ghibli, is based on Diana Wynne Jones' last book published in 2011 of the same name. The movie will follow the journey of Earwig, a witch's daughter who was left by her mother at an orphanage for safekeeping when 12 witches were following her. When she is 10 years old, she gets adopted by Bella Yaga and the Mandrake. Once they arrive at Bella Yaga's residence, she reveals that she is a witch and all that she wants from Earwig is for her to be the witch's assistant who helps in potion-making, among other things.
It is while living with her that Earwig finds out the truth about her mother being a witch too, and with Thomas, the talking cat's help, Earwig embarks on an adventurous journey. Meet the cast of the animated film that is set to arrive on HBO Max on February 5 and in select theatres on February 3.
Taylor Paige Henderson as Earwig
12-year-old actor Taylor Paige Henderson plays the titular role of Earwig in the show. Before voicing for the film, she played the part of Ally in Sarah Silverman's new musical 'The Bedwetter' at the Atlantic Theater Company. Apart from acting, Henderson also enjoys singing, classical ballet dancing, painting, traveling and swimming.

Vanessa Marshall as Bella Yaga
Actor Vanessa Marshall plays the role of the witch Bella Yaga who adopts Earwig from the orphanage to take her home and employ her as a witch's assistant. Daughter of actress Joan Van Ark and reporter John Marshall, Vanessa is a well-known voice actor who had voiced Joey, Wonder Woman, Giganta, Reporter and Teller in 2019 'Harley Quinn' animated show. She also voiced for Rook Kast in 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'. She also voiced Gamora, Meredith Quill and Crystal in the animated TV show 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
Richard E Grant as Mandrake
Actor Richard E Grant plays the role of Mandrake in the film, who is a mysterious figure that Earwig is warned against disturbing when she arrives at Bella Yaga's home. He debuted as an actor with the comedy 'Withnail and I' in which he played the titular role of Withnail. His most recent film includes 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' in which he played the role of Allegiant General Enric Pryde. He also received critical acclaim and the Best Supporting Actor Award Male from Independent Spirit Award for his role in 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?'.
He also played some memorable roles on TV including 'Game of Thrones', in which he portrayed the character of Izembaro in Season 6. His most recent work on television includes 'Tuca & Bertie', 'Dispatches from Elsewhere' and he will also be seen in 'Loki' starring Tom Hiddleston to release on Disney+ in 2021.
Dan Stevens as Thomas, the talking cat
Actor Dan Stevens plays the role of the talking cat Thomas in the film, who helps Earwig uncover the plot that Bella Yaga and the Mandrake have spun. Stevens received international acclaim for his role in the famous period drama 'Downton Abbey' in which he played the role of Matthew Crawley. He also starred as the Beast in Disney's live-action film 'Beauty and the Beast' opposite Emma Watson. Some of his other noteworthy roles include that of David Haller in FX's 'Legion', Lorin Willis in 'Marshall' and Charles Dickens in 'The Man Who Invented Christmas'
Kacey Musgraves as Earwig's Mother
Actor Kacey Musgraves will play the role of Earwig's mother, a witch who was forced to leave her daughter at an orphanage to ensure that she would grow up to be safe. She is a Grammy-award winning singer and songwriter who will also be singing the title song of the film.
