'DWTS' Season 32 viewers call out Mauricio Umansky as he remains safe even after forgetting dance steps

'DWTS' Season 32 judges encouraged Mauricio Umansky as he forgot his dance steps during the performance and got the lowest score

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 32 contestant Mauricio Umansky performed salsa with his partner Emma Slater. However, Mauricio appeared to forget most of his steps and viewers called him out for messing up the routine.

Mauricio was "very disappointed" as he landed in the bottom three last week and vowed to improve his skills. He emphasized that he wanted to do well, especially "with everything I'm going through at home" and said, "The pressure's on right now, I need to step it up or I'll go home."

However, after Mauricio forgot almost all the steps of his dance, he said, "I feel terrible that I missed it." Mauricio added, "It is what it is, I was trying to channel my dad, the Mambo King."

Despite Mauricio messing up his dance, he received enough audience votes and remained safe during week 2 of 'DWTS'. Meanwhile, viewers slammed Mauricio with many asking, "HOW DID MAURICIO DODGE ELIMINATION LIKE THAT?"

Another person said, "How in the world is Mauricio not in the bottom 2? He forgot half the dance." A third Twitter user added, "I THINK MAURICIO IS GOING HOME TONIGHT #DWTS HE SCREWED HIMSELF TONIGHT HIS FOOTWORK IS BAD."

Another user said, "Mauricio forgot the entire routine. That was rough." Another critic wrote, "Yikes this is bad. Mauricio completely forgot everything."

'DWTS' season 32 judges encourage Mauricio Umansky despite 'mishap'

Mauricio Umansky was hopeful he'd do well this week because he "grew up in Mexico City," and felt Latin Night was the "perfect night" for his and Emma's comeback.

Meanwhile, Emma said during the rehearsals that the two were focused on a "more traditional, authentic Salsa" but despite their best efforts, Mauricio had a few missteps on the dance floor.

However, the judges seemed to encourage Mauricio's efforts and acknowledged that things didn't go as planned. They encouraged Mauricio to focus on the good aspects

Bruno said about the dance, "Forget about it. It happens to everyone." Carrie Ann echoed his words, saying, "It happens to the best of us, and I think that you handled it [well]. When you came back, you came back strong."

Derek said, "A setback sets you up for a comeback." Derek later chose to focus on what he did good including Mauricio's impressive neck lift at the beginning of the routine.

Even with the mishaps, Emma told Julianne afterward that they were "just gonna have fun on the floor... this is what matters, it matters when you put your heart out there."

Emma Slater shares concerns about 'dangerous' dance moves on 'DWTS'

Emma Slater took to Instagram on September 28 to share her worries about her choreography process. She revealed that she had been overthinking the steps and lifts she had designed for the salsa routine they would be performing.

Emma questioned whether she had incorporated enough tricks and lifts and if they were suitable for Mauricio Umansky. Despite the concerns, Emma praised Mauricio's positive mindset and admitted that she tends to overthink things every season.

She mentioned that she tried dangerous salsa tricks with Mauricio during rehearsals and realized that it was not safe. Emma recognized the importance of allowing Mauricio to feel free and comfortable on the dance floor.
