Heartwarming moment as Dwayne Johnson reunites with 'The Mummy Returns' co-star Brendan Fraser at Oscars 2023
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Oscars are not only a place for fierce competition but also a place of reunion for many old friends. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who is extremely active on social media, recently took to his handle to share snippets from his meeting with his old friend Brendan Fraser during the Oscars 2023.
Johnson shared a slew of images where the latest Academy Award winner could be seen engaged in a conversation with the professional wrestler-turned-actor. ‘The Scorpion King’ star dedicated his post with a long caption to his ‘The Mummy Returns’ co-star.
The eight times WWE champion started his post with, “Very cool full circle moment here with my long time buddy Brendan Fraser and his sons." He carried on to write, “My very first film of my Hollywood career was THE MUMMY RETURNS, which Brendan was the star." The ‘Fast and Furious’ veteran further continued, “Lots of critics and cynics betting against me at that time, but Brendan welcomed me with open arms and was very supportive. I never forget kind people.”
"Now years later, Brendan wins his Oscar for BEST ACTOR in “The Whale” and I went on to become famous for wearing a fanny pack,” remarked the ‘Black Adam’ star in a funny note. He then congratulated Fraser and said, “Congratulations, brother - enjoy your flowers.”
The two stars could be seen sharing laughs over their conversation when Fraser introduced his two sons, Leland, 16, and Holden, 18 to Johnson. Seeing snippets of the meeting of the two stars, fans went wild, even asking for a reunion of the two.
Dwayne Johnson and Brendan Fraser's friendship
This is, however, not the first instance when Johnson has shown any support for Fraser. After Fraser received a six-minute long standing ovation for his role in ‘The Whale’ at the Venice International Film Festival, Johnson took to his Twitter to write, “Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan. He supported me coming into his Mummy Returns franchise for my first ever role, which kicked off my Hollywood career. Rooting for all your success brother and congrats to my bud Darren Aronofsky. #TheWhale."

To which Fraser replied in Variety’s New York Party, “I thought that was really nice of him." “We hadn't met in person before then, actually, although we were fighting onscreen,” after stating he first met Johnson in the ‘reception’ after the film was completed. Fraser then added, “But every time I 'worked with him' he was just a piece of tape on a stick. So it was nice to go, 'Hey, man. How are ya? We finally meet!”Fraser then humorously said, “I could take him. I could take him — he's just a piece of tape on a stick!”
