A day after DaBaby got massively trolled for his alleged homophobic rant at the recent Rolling Loud Miami 2021 festival, his former collaborator Dua Lipa came forward to speak against the same. The Grammy-winning songstress took to her Instagram stories to express her views on DaBaby’s controversial remarks on gay people.

While condemning the comments, the 25-year-old crooner revealed how surprised and horrified she was, adding that she did not really recognize the person she worked with. For the unversed, Dua Lipa and DaBaby joined hands on the remix of her hit single ‘Levitating’. The track dropped in October 2020 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also smashed various other records. Social media users also requested the songstress to take the remix off from the internet. Also, may ganged up against Dua Lipa, claiming she was going against the rapper only for clout.

‘I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community’: Dua Lipa

Sharing the Instagram story with her close to 70M followers, the ‘IDGAF’ hitmaker stated, “I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments.” She added, “I really don’t recognise this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

During his performance at the Rolling Loud Miami fest, DaBaby had said, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up.” He added, “Ladies, if your pu**y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.” One person in the background, which is being assumed as his DJ, added, “Let’s be real about this shit, some of y’all (N-word_ suspect as a mother**ker.”

‘I have no intentions on offending anybody’: DaBaby

A few hours after Dua Lipa took to her Instagram, DaBaby logged into his Twitter account and apologized for his actions. However, the apology is not related to Dua’s Instagram story at all. He first shared, “I tell fans to put a cellphone light in the air y’all start a million man March. I told you y’all digested that wrong but I ain’t gone lie I’m impressed. Now show this same amount of support when a racist cop kill one of our black a**…YA NOT.” The Ohio native continued, “Anybody who done ever been effected by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intentions on offending anybody. So my apologies. But the LGBT community... I ain’t trippin on y’all, do you. y’all business is y’all business.”

The 29-year-old rapper then added, “& for any brands, networks, or artists that like to profit off of black rappers influence on the culture, without understanding it or having the patience to deal with what comes with the position we play in our culture. Keep yo money next time. us “N****S” human too. #GodBless”. Coming to a conclusion, he stated, “Other than that y’all cheer the f**k up & be proud of who you are cuz you can’t make me feel less of myself. Aside from that HIDALGO, TEXAS & CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS Get them tickets for Friday & Saturday so I can show y’all how da f**k I get down.”

‘She doing it for the clout’

While many requested Dua Lipa to remove the ‘Levitating’ remix from the internet, others questioned the morals of the award-winning crooner. One user said, “She’s acting like she knows him personally. She’s just a radio pop star who’s label or manager picked an up and coming rapper to do a feature with to get plays.” Another stated, “I hate when ppl try to use their platform to bash someone they could easily call up on the phone and be like yo Wsup? Lol she doing it for the clout.” One added, “She's surprised a rapper named DaBaby isnt mature? Fml.” Another user tweeted, “Why would she take down his version when it’s the one that made the song popular.”

The next person stated, “@DUALIPA needs to REMOVE the @DaBabyDaBaby version FULLY... an Instagram post does not suffice money speaks louder.” One said, “Dua Lipa wanna distance herself from Dababy now? As much crap he's got into but now she's done. She's full of bs just like him.” Another added, “Dua Lipa didn’t have a problem working with DaBaby after he smacked that black woman on video. So her little moral stand isn’t that, but, rather an attempt at protecting her own brand - and money. She didn’t give a s**t about the controversy when it benefited her.”
