Drew Carey is mourning the death of his ex-fiancée Dr. Amie Harwick who died on early Saturday.

As reported by Fox News, the actor and comedian paid a tribute to Harwick. He said, "Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation."

He also took to Twitter to share a two-second holiday clip of the pair and had captioned it, "I hope you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did." In the post, Carey can be seen wrapping his arm around Harwick's waist as she holds on to a polar bear's paw.

Harwick and Carey began dating in 2017 and had announced their engagement the following year in 2018. Their relationship did not work out and the pair called it off less than a year later. A representative for Carey shared that the split was very 'amicable'.

38-year-old Harwick was found dead in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood. The police confirmed that an ex-boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of murder. The suspect, Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was arrested outside his home in Playa del Rey and was also booked on murder charges.

Harwick and Pursehouse had recently broken up and she had also filed a restraining order against him. However, the restraining order had expired and she had seen him around two weeks before her death.

We had previously reported that the police initially responded to the report of a “woman screaming" early February 15 morning and Harwick’s roommate told responding officers that she was being assaulted inside the home. Harwick was found unresponsive under the third-story balcony of her Hollywood Hills home and later died of her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
