'Better than the Beatles': Drake breaks record with most top five hits in Billboard Hot 100

Drake has also become the first artist in the history of Billboard to earn 100 top 20 hits on the Hot 100 chart

GREENWICH, CONNECTICUT: Drake has overtaken The Beatles with the most number of top five hits in the history of Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Canadian rapper scored his 30th top five hit with DJ Khaled song 'Staying Alive' which features Lil Baby.

The Beatles have been relegated to the second spot with 29 top five hits; they are followed by Madonna with 28, Mariah Carey with 27, Janet Jackson with 26, Rihanna with 23, and Elvis Presley with 21 top five hits.

Chart watchers also noted that Drake has become the first artist in the history of Billboard to earn 100 top 20 hits on the Hot 100 chart. Billboard charts tweeted,"@djkhaled's "Staying Alive," featuring @Drake& @lilbaby4PF, debuts at No. 5 on this week's #Hot100. It earns Drake his 30th career top 5 hit, passing @thebeatles or the most of all time."



 

Drake's first song to chart in the top five was his second single, 2009’s ‘Best I Ever Had’, which topped at No 2. Later, he followed up with the ‘Thank Me Later’ cut ‘Find Your Love’ in 2010. Meanwhile, in the same year, he received his first No 1 as a featured artist on ‘What’s My Name?’ by Rihanna. His first No 1 as a lead artist came in 2016 with ‘One Dance’.

The Beatles earned their 29 Top Five singles within a short span of five years. Drake also took to Instagram to share his happiness on his new record; he wrote in the caption, "Ok I broke my records for the month now me and @stake need you to do your thing Bitcoin 😂"



 

'He is a brilliant star'

Drake fans got super excited and shared their happiness across social media platforms. A fan tweeted, "Well I guess he's better than the Beatles then. Yeah, right!" Another user said, "Look at the era of their work. The comparison is polls apart. The Beatles have layed the foundation of psychedalic Rockin early 60's. A lot has been evovled till date." A tweet read, "That's What's up Drake he is Amazing Rapper Goat". Another user stated, "Oh well lol times change … imagine if Micheal Jackson had streaming.. but he didn’t so not to mention Drake came from the era right before socials became the head promotion tool … his mixtapes was better than mfs albums".
