Drake postpones reunion with Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne after contracting Covid, fans say it’s ‘God’s plan’
Drake, who is currently in the middle of his OVO Fest 2022, had planned an exciting Young Money reunion featuring him along with Nicki Minaj and his mentor Lil Wayne. However, it rained on his parade, as the artist contracted Covid leaving him “truly devastated.” This is the second time when the rapper has contracted Covid. He first got it before the release of his album ‘Certified Lover Boy’ in 2021.
The Grammy-winning rap icon took to his Instagram with 118 million followers and shared the unfortunate news while promising that he will share the new possible date soonest. The ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker also apologized for letting his fans down concluding that he will give his fans everything on stage the moment he will test negative. The hip-hop heavyweight had made headlines for his OVO Fest 2022 when he surprised his fans with a special appearance from Nelly Furtado.

‘Truly devastated to say that I tested positive for COVID’
Drake wrote, “I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for COVID and the Young Money Reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the soonest date possible.”
He continued, “I will keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked. Until then, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and I love you all I am sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except COVID)."
Speaking of his OVO Fest 2022, artists like Keshia Chanté, Kardinal Offishall, Shawn Desman, Rascalz, and others were also featured on day one of the event. The three-day event was also expected to bring out industry stalwarts such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and Lil Baby.
‘Nobody wants that reunion’
Social media users took to Twitter after Drake announced the cancellation of the Young Money reunion due to Covid. “Happy the Young Money reunion got cancelled cuz I was legit jealous I didn’t have tickets,” said one as another posted, “Everyone catching Covid now this s**t sucks.”
