Devon Hoover murder: Police say suspect is male who himself moved body to attic after killing him
DETROIT, MICHIGAN: The mysterious case of Dr Devon Hoover’s death has not reached a conclusion yet; however, reports say that police believe a male killer was behind it. The renowned neurosurgeon was discovered dead at his home in Detroit on April 23. His body was found wrapped in a sheet in his house’s attic during a wellness check.
After Hoover’s body was found, cops investigating the case reportedly said that he suffered several gunshot injuries. It was also revealed that the person who murdered the doctor was not unknown to him, and the killer first shot him before moving the body to the attic.

‘Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate’
This comes after Law & Crime reported that a person of interest was taken into custody by the Detroit Police Department. However, they were freed “following prosecutorial review”. A statement by the department said, “Dr Devon Hoover Case Update We can confirm that the person of interest taken into custody on April 28 has been discharged. Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate all leads.”

Besides, Detroit Police Chief James White said, “We’re confident that the person has information on what transpired. Right now, though, we are happy to have a person of interest who we could question. We are confident as a police agency that this person knows something about what occurred. This was not a random act.”
In another statement, the police department added, “Homicide of Dr Devon Hoover The DPD is actively investigating this tragic event. At this time, we are carefully examining all evidence and investigative leads. We're asking that the community bring forward any information it may have in this matter. We will provide updated information as it becomes available.”

‘Devon loved his city’
Meanwhile, according to an obituary for Hoover, his mother Lauretta lost her life four days after his body was found. The eulogy read, “Devon is survived by his father, Clarence Hoover, Goshen, IN, and by six sisters, Diana (Andrew) Wenger, Goshen, IN; Lila (Wendell) Graber, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Canada; Linda (Lowell) Herschberger, Brooklyn, NY; Beth (Thad) Lechlitner, Middlebury, IN; Andrea (Jerald) Martin, Nappanee, IN; Laurie Hoover, Ephrata, PA; 22 nieces and nephews; and 8 great nieces and nephews.”
It continued, “Devon loved his home in the Boston-Edison Historic District of Detroit, Michigan. Since he purchased the home in 2008, he had been steadily transforming it room by room with period décor and carefully selected antiques. He was essentially the curator of his own museum, which he loved sharing with friends, family, and visitors.”
“Devon loved his city and gave generously to the community in many ways. He often hosted a picturesque Christmas party that became a bit of a tradition in his neighborhood. As a board member of the Detroit Opera, he encouraged rising opera stars by hosting intimate concerts at his home. He was planning to host a fundraiser for the Fraternite Notre Dame on May 4, but the event had to be canceled due to his untimely death,” the obituary added.
