DETROIT, MICHIGAN: A former colleague of murdered Michigan neurosurgeon Devon Hoover has claimed the doctor was once held at gunpoint during a carjacking incident. "I met Devon when he came to interview for his neurosurgical residency at Henry Ford Hospital. I liked him from that very moment and was thrilled he joined the residency. He was part of the resident “trifecta” - Max, Sean and Devon! He was always a pleasure to work with - I spent many hours with him doing surgeries, rounding on patients (all of the older ladies were always trying to introduce him to their daughters/granddaughters). He was smart, a good surgeon and just a pleasure to spend time with," Marianne Langlois wrote in a Facebook post.

"I remember when he was carjacked outside of HFH when leaving after a long day. He was flagged down by someone asking for help and of course, he stopped. He was held at gunpoint in his car, made to withdraw cash from a machine and then dumped in a deserted area. I didn’t think he would return after his ordeal, but he was back a few days later shaken but back to business as usual! I was surprised when he decided to stay in Detroit after completing his residency but he had come to love Motown. I remember going to his house for a party - it was amazing," Langlois continued, adding, "It was my honor to know him and work with him. My heart breaks for his family and all those who knew and loved him. The world has lost a very special and gifted man who gave so much of himself to care for others! Rest in peace Devon."
