DETROIT, MICHIGAN: A nurse who worked at St John Hospice has recalled on social media how slain doctor Devon Hoover saved her life after she suffered a broken lumbar spine. She was allegedly injured after being thrown out of a car by her boyfriend.
Hoover, 53, a Michigan neurosurgeon, was found dead at his home on West Boston Boulevard in Detroit’s Boston-Edison District on April 23. He was shot dead in what police believe was a domestic incident. Police said Hoover, who lived alone and was reportedly single, was found wrapped in a plastic sheet in his attic, according to Fox 2. He was discovered during a wellness check. Hoover was reportedly killed by a single gunshot wound to the head. A person of interest in the murder has been placed in custody on unrelated charges, police announced on Friday, April 28.

"I met Devon in 2003. I was a nurse at St. John Hospice, and I was assaulted by my ex boyfriend and thrown from a car and broke my lumbar spine," Cyndi Kay wrote on Facebook. "I had emergency surgery at St. John, and woke up from Anesthesia. This young (my age), goodlooking guy was standing over me. I said are you my Nurse? He said "No, I'm one of your neurosurgeons.""
"I laughed," No way you are to young to be a neurosurgeon!" Devon says, "I swear look at my ID badge!" I have known him 20 yrs. Just spoke with him about another surgery 3 months ago. This is awful, I hope they find who did this. God bless him and his family," as per her post.
Devon Hoover's mother rumored to be dead
Hoover's mother was rumored to be dead just five days after his murder, according to a social media post. "Not sure if it’s true but I just read that his mother passed away today! God Bless the family….My heart goes out to them!" a social media user wrote on Facebook. While there are no official reports about his mother's rumored death, and no confirmation from his family either, friends and acquaintances have confirmed her death in the post's comment section.
