'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2020': Paula Abdul's performance of a classic takes fans back to the 90s

The world would be more alive and entertaining if everyone had the zeal of Paula Abdul. At 57, the singer-songwriter performed 'Cold Hearted', a late 1990s classic.
She totally upped the energy at 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2020' with her superbly choreographed dance performance, while the crowd cheered her on.
For those who dig the classics, it is turning out to be quite a New Year's Eve with artistes going old school. However, there's also a segment who are questioning the decision to rope in singers from a bygone era, such as Alanis Morisette, Paula Abdul and Green Day.
"Is this 1990's #RockinEve? Alanis, Green Day, and Paula Abdul. Today's music must really suck," a fan questioned while another wrote: "Green Day, Paula Abdul, Alanis Morrisette? Yep I'm the demographic they are catering to. 40 and home on the couch. #NewYearsRockinEve2020."
"42 here...I turned it on and saw Salt-N-Pepa; now Paula Abdul. Are we sure it's not NYE 1988?" a viewer questioned. However, there were also people who totally loved the lineup and wished they had been present with it while they were growing up last decade.
Meanwhile, Paula sure must have had a blast. She was totally looking forward to her performance.
"I'm so grateful and, like, humbled and excited...my dancers are excited. It's an incredible experience and I love Dick Clark Productions...And, you know, I pinch myself that I'm actually still doing this," she had told ABC Studios ahead of her performance.
Interestingly, this is the first time she has performed at the popular event, which makes it all the more special.
'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020' is live on ABC and will feature performances from the likes of Sheryl Crow, Usher, The Jonas Brothers, Dan + Shay, BTS and more.
