Diane Keaton poses with her children for RARE photo at hand and footprint ceremony
Diane Keaton has ruled both big as well as small screens for more than five decades, and on Thursday, August 11, she and her work were honored during the hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. ‘The Godfather’ actress was seen in a black-and-white outfit as she beamed with joy during the function.
Looking every inch graceful, Keaton chose to wear a black and white shirt with white pants and a black belt. She also donned a well-fitted blazer and alleviated her look with a black hat. The iconic star went natural when it came to hair and makeup. She applied a pink lipstick and painted her nails in black while keeping her hair open, The Daily Mail reported.

The Thursday event also witnessed a rare sight of her two children, a daughter and a son — Dexter, 27, and 22-year-old Duke. Keaton’s younger sister Dorrie Hall and Dexter's husband, Jordan White, were there too. The ‘Annie Hall’ actress posed proudly with them. As per reports, she adopted Dexter in 1990 when she was 50, and five years later adopted Duke after being tired of finding a “strong and substantive” relationship. Speaking with Katie Couric in 2010, she had said: “I think the reason I didn't get married was because I would have to compromise too much. I wanted to try more adventurous things for myself.”
The 76-year-old had also talked about being a mother in an interview. Her conversation with Film Monthly had her saying: “Motherhood has completely changed me. It's just about the most completely humbling experience that I've ever had. I think that it puts you in your place because it really forces you to address the issues that you claim to believe in, and if you can't stand up to those principles when you're raising a child, forget it.”
Meanwhile, it was the second time Keaton was recognized for her work. In 2017, she was given the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. The ‘Something's Gotta Give’ star received the award at the hands of her former flame, Woody Allen. The director, whose movies have won numerous Academy Awards, said jokingly at the time, “This is not to suggest that Diane when I met her was ruthlessly ambitious, but she did make an interesting Freudian slip. When we started going out she meant to refer to me as a talented young director, but instead called me a stepping stone. So, it was a red flag.”
He continued that Keaton was a “beautiful girl in New York City” but also remarked that she was not a “conventional” one. “By conventional, I mean pleasing to the eye,” Allen shared. The 86-year-old then went on to compliment the actress’ writing as he said while referring to her 2011 memoir ‘Then Again’: “I didn't know you loved me and were bulimic. So we'd have dinner. She tells me she loves me and then she'd go throw up. I was taking her to these high-end restaurants, $400 for dinner. If I had known she was throwing up, I would have taken her to Pizza Hut and saved a fortune.”
