As Hollywood's real life drama in the form of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial enters its third week on Monday, April 25, there is something that has upset both the actors’ fans. Depp has sued Heard for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018, claiming she was a domestic violence survivor.

The ‘Aquaman’ actress had not written Depp’s name in the piece but had stated: “Like many women, I had been harassed and sexually assaulted by the time I was of college age. But I kept quiet — I did not expect filing complaints to bring justice. And I didn’t see myself as a victim. Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”

But the 58-year-old Depp’s legal team believe that the article insinuated that he was Heard's abuser, which led to the lawsuit. Heard responded to the suit by counter suing her ex-husband for $100 million. And as the fight continues in a Virginia court, fans have slammed 'trial merchandise,' mostly targetting the 36-year-old actress, which are based on the court proceedings being live-streamed on Court TV.

As per reports, an Australian online store Redbubble, that has also has offices in San Francisco and Berlin, is selling “Johnny Depp trial” items, including “Justice for Johnny” and “Fck Amber” t-shirts in numerous colors and different styles. Another online brand named CoolPopTees is also apparently selling a “Team Johnny Depp” t-shirt, that several of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star’s fans were reportedly seen wearing outside the court where the case is going on.

Besides, Urban Dictionary’s e-commerce platform is apparently offering a $33 “Amber Heard” mug, the description of which read: “An actress that can’t even act and is known best for divorcing Johnny Depp and then lying about her relationship with him to the media.” The mug is reportedly for sale in nine different colors.

Reacting to the items, a user tweeted: “something about people making literal merch pertaining to Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp is very very VERY uncomfy to me.” “Not Disney merch creators making shirts out of the things Johnny Depp has said during this trial… that’s icky,” another one wrote. The third user added: “why are ppl making merch about johnny depp’s court case.”

Meanwhile, there has been a constant barrage of online hate directed at Amber Heard by social media users, who are presumably the target audience for such merch. One tweet bashed Heard saying: “@LOrealParisUSA ! I no longer buy any of your merchandise because you support violent abusers ! Amber heard L'Oréal seriously!!!” The second one tweeted, “made sure i woke up early today to have extra time to hate on Amber Heard. all my homies hate Amber Heard 💯.”

A tweet read: “Amber Heard's lawyers just made Johnny Depp listen to a recording of himself expressing the desire to self harm. This was the point she drove him to, and he's reliving it all now. He deserved so much better. Hold him in your heart today, with all those who've suffered abuse.” Another tweet stated, “More than 6 years ago Amber Heard taunted Johnny Depp to tell the world and the jury that he was the victim of domestic violence and see who’ll believe him. Today she gets to sit there and watch him do exactly that. #JusticeForJohnnyDepp".
