PARIS, FRANCE: Netizens have caused an uproar and slammed Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvasalia's apology after he stays in his role and did not resign. The global Fashion house, Balenciaga sparked an alarming controversy after the brand released bizarre pictures of its latest campaign featuring children. The campaign featured children wearing branded t-shirts while holding stuffed bear bags styled with BDSM harnesses.

But Internet sleuths were appalled after they noticed the ad campaign included a “poorly hidden” document about “virtual child porn” while the children posed around empty wine and champagne glasses. Many users took a dig at Demna who was known as the "darling of the fashion industry" and was credited for boosting the profits of Balenciaga's parent group, Kering, by $1 billion. In the fashion heads defense, he released a public apology on Friday, December 2, promising to "do better" and vowing to work with children's protection organizations.

"I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids and I take my responsibility," the statement read. "It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them...I need to learn from this, listen and engage with child protection organizations to know how I can contribute and help on this terrible subject. I apologize to anyone offended by the visuals and Balenciaga has guaranteed that adequate measures will be taken not only to avoid similar mistakes in the future but also to take accountability in protecting child welfare in every way we can," the statement concluded.

However furious social media users slammed the creative director Demna's apology after learning he was not fired. One user tweeted, "What kind of perverse company needs a new division meant solely for the purpose of making sure that they don't display BDSM and children? Shouldn't this be the default?" "Throwing the The Bullshit Card.." remarked a user. "Balenciaga is gross, the celebrities who defend them are sick. Ye is going to devalue their status to the ground with his Election merch. #BalenciagaGate," read a tweet.

A user claimed, "Apologies are worthless unless they all resign. Those paid by Balenciaga should also cut ties immediately. Shameful. All of them." Questioned a user, "Why is he still creative director of @balenciaga?" "This guy is so out of touch. It wasn’t a hot mic comment. It was multiple staged, multi-hour shoots, then run through an editor, then approved, then sent to marketing, then distributed. Bruh that’s like the klan saying sorry they wore white. Not. Even. Close," wrote a user.
