'I think she is beautiful': Debi Mazar hits back at criticism around pal Madonna's changing appearance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Madonna has found an ally in 'Younger' actress Debi Mazar, who has defended the 'Queen of Pop' for her changed appearance since the Grammy Awards in February. The 'Extra Virgin' star, who is known for playing sharp-tongued women on screen, has scathingly criticized Internet trolls against Madonna.
In a recent interview taken during Miscast23 Gala, the ‘Goodfellas’ star said, “I think Madonna is beautiful and I don’t pay attention to what people say about me or about anybody,” reports Page Six.

In the interview, Mazar said, “Everyone [on the internet] has an opinion these days and the only way really to survive, only the strong survive, is not to hear all the noise.” Mazar, who first met with the pop star in the ’80s at Danceteria in New York where she did Madonna’s makeup for the music video 'Everybody,' restated again, “I think Madonna is beautiful.”
What happened to Madonna’s physical appearance?
At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Madonna's flawless face appeared to be virtually wrinkle-free and flawless, sparking a plethora of controversy. Fans immediately criticized her ageless appearance on social media. Madge, in her typical style, was not the one to remain silent as she took to Instagram to express her outrage at online trolls.
The ‘Like a Prayer’ crooner, who presented Kim Petras and Sam Smith on stage, also delivered a moving speech. Taking to her Instagram, she wrote, “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!”
Speaking out against “ageism and misogyny,” she said, “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in,” and added, “A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
In an unapologetic manner, Madonna defended her choices by saying, “I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start.”
She also added, “I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”
Taking inspiration from Beyonce, Madonna wrote, “In the words of Beyonce “ You-won’t break my soul”,” and continued, “I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life.”
She concluded with a sassy remark, “Bow down bitches! 💃🏼🪩🎤💄🎼👠.”
‘She wants to look more like herself again’
Amidst this controversy, an insider, however, told Daily Mail that, “Despite what people think, the criticism over her drastically different appearance does affect her,” and added that she is currently undergoing some procedures to reverse the effects.
The pop sensation, who is gearing up for her globe-trotting sold-out 'The Celebration Tour,' is feeling bad at the criticisms, claims the source. “She sees and hears what people say about her and, for the tour, she wants to look more like herself again for her fans,” says the insider.
Later, the same source added, “It may be her last tour, so she wants to make it perfect. She is incredible shape and her body is sick,” before labeling, “This is her labor of love.”
In 2012, Madonna said, "I am certainly not against plastic surgery," before adding, "However, I am absolutely against having to discuss it," reports Mirror.
