LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In 'Death and Other Details', Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) finally finds closure regarding her mother's tragic death. In the latest Hulu series, the central character grapples with the trauma of her mother's unsolved murder case.

Her emotions are triggered when she encounters private detective Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), and a murder occurs during a cruise.

Episode 7 of 'Death and Other Details' provides several flashbacks revealing the true events surrounding Imogene's mother, Kira Scott, and sheds light on why Rufus abruptly halted his investigation.

Lawrence Collier (David Marshall Grant) hired Rufus Cotesworth to investigate Kira Scott's murder six months after the tragedy to help 11-year-old Imogene get closure.

Months went by, and Rufus struggled to make significant progress in the investigation, with only a suspect named Victor Sams to show for his efforts.

Lawrence dismissed the theory involving Victor Sams, leaving Rufus with Imogene as his sole lead. Lawrence then asked Rufus to quit the case, citing that his work was only adding to Imogene's trauma.

Rufus insisted that Imogene is a gifted child and she could eventually lead him to the truth. However, Lawrence ultimately decided to fire Rufus from the case.

Rufus Cotesworth continues his investigation

For several years, Imogene Scott continued to hate Rufus for quitting the case and leaving her shattered. However, during the latest conversation, Imogene learns that Rufus never quit digging.

As Rufus takes her through his past, we learn that Rufus continues to look deeper into the Victor Sams angle. She finally understands that his presence on the ship wasn't coincidental.

Rufus, who quit his job as a detective to join Celia Chun's security, had a deeper agenda. She finds out that Celia Chun (Lisa Lu) is a victim of Collier Mills' illicit activities. This makes us believe that Rufus wasn't a rookie detective after all.

The plot is about to get more interesting as Imogene inches closer to unraveling the mystery.

Seven episodes of 'Death and Other Details' are currently streaming on Hulu.
