Spoiler alert for 'DCeased: The Unkillables' #1

The original 'DCeased' miniseries, DC's answer to Marvel Zombies, was one of the biggest comics of 2019 and the devastating story continues in 'DCeased: The Unkillables' written by Tom Taylor with art by Karl Mostert. The epic new story sees the villains and antiheroes of DC who somehow found a way to resist the attack of the Anti-Living that took down Earth's greatest heroes including Superman and Batman.

'DCeased: The Unkillables' #1 is a well-paced and well-written sequel that's full of amazing action and scenes of absolute devastation. Deathstroke has a pretty solid story in the issue and he's clearly one of the main characters, considering he's front and center on the cover, but the biggest star of the first issue is actually Jason Todd / Red Hood.

Pretty much every panel with Jason in it is an epic scene with some killer lines, all leading up to the moment he discovers the Joker's body and lashes it onto the hood of the Batmobile in classic 'Mad Max' fashion. His interactions with Gordon, especially the one right after he makes the Joker his hood ornament, are priceless and we can't wait to see where this story takes them.

Taylor creates a gripping story that's dark and yet witty at the same time. The story moves forward at a steady pace, not stopping even for some of the bigger moments like when Commissioner Gordon finds the corpse of his daughter and it's so much better for it.

The art is both muted and bright at the same time, perfectly transforming Taylor's script into visuals. Some faces do get a bit weird at certain points but that's excusable and the lettering work on the issue is just top-notch. We always knew this would be a great read but this issue has delivered more than we ever hoped for and we're going to be waiting for the rest of this story as ravenous as the Anti-Living themselves.

'DCeased: The Unkillables' #1 was written by Taylor with art by Mostert and Trevor Scott and cover art done by Howard Porter. The issue was released on February 19.
