'The Pitt' fans had a double-whammy in the form of Supriya Ganesh's absence for Media’s PaleyFest in Hollywood, California. Ganesh, who became a household name as Dr. Samira Mohan on the first two seasons of the hit HBO Max medical drama, recently dropped another shocker after exiting the show ahead of Season 3. The actress who uses both she/her and they/them pronouns has yet to speak about the exit in the award-winning show.

Earlier, they took their IG story, saying, "Hi everyone—not sure why it’s not removed from the site, but I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday. I know some of you bought tickets to see me, and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. Love you all." According to the event's official schedule, the cast of 'The Pitt' was set to take part in a screening and a panel afterward on Sunday. Ganesh's name was listed alongside Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Taylor Dearden, and the show’s executive producer, R. Scott Gemmill.

In related news, the show promoted Ayesha Harris to series regular for the show’s third season. Per Variety, the exit for Dr. Mohan was "a story-driven decision." Earlier, the actress spoke of exploring roles outside of the medical drama. "The Pitt is so realistic that I would love to do something that’s just absurd and weird. Maybe a horror or an arthouse indie movie,” they told Cosmopolitan. "There’s so much for South Asian women to explore and do in this industry, and I think things are changing now, but there’s so much further to go. I just really want to break new ground in film and play a character that’s just really weird and interesting and very different from Samira." The plot details for Season 3 are being kept under wraps for now. Dr. Parker Ellis (Ayesha Harris) will take Samira's place as the night shift senior resident and appear as a series regular in Season 3. Be sure to watch the Season 2 finale of 'The Pitt,' slated to air at 9 p.m. ET on April 16 on HBO Max.
