Looks like Malia Obama, who earlier dated her Harvard schoolmate Rory Farquharson till 2021, has reportedly found a new love in the form of Dawit Eklund. The daughter of former President Barack Obama was recently papped hanging out with the Ethiopian record producer in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old former first daughter paid a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Thursday, August 4. According to the Daily Mail, the duo was seen for the third time together in just nine days. Malia Obama earlier made headlines for her relationship with Rory Farquharson with whom she started dating in 2017.

Who is Dawit Eklund?

Dawit Eklund is a 32-year-old music producer who owns an indie record label. He is eight years older than Malia and turns 33 next week. Malia, who is 24, celebrated her birthday on July 4. Eklund is the co-founder of the record label 1432 R which he runs with Joyce Lim and Sami Yenigun in Washington, DC.

According to the Daily Mail, Eklund’s father was an employee of the US State Department and his mother hails from Ethiopia. His father earlier worked at several US embassies in Africa. Eklund’s Facebook bio reveals that he “studied international development; Africa at George Washington University,” which is a private college in Washington, DC. Prior to this, he pursued the International Community School of Addis Ababa. According to the Daily Mail, he is also a registered Democrat.

The Washington Post in 2016 penned about his label saying, “Their music seamlessly brings together house music grooves, the stutter of UK garage, an uneasy electronic ambience, and – perhaps most notably – Ethiopian folk music.'

Is Malia Obama dating Dawit Eklund?

Malia Obama and Dawit Eklund were papped in Los Angeles. The former kept things casual as she was clicked in a white crop top that she teamed it up with loose-fitting green pants. Dawit, on the other hand, donned a nude-colored T-shirt and green shorts that featured a photo of Bob Marley on the left leg.

While the rumored love birds have not confirmed their relationship, they were seen comfortable in each other’s company. In one of the pictures, Dawit was seen resting his hand on Malia’s waist as she caressed the back of his neck. Malia moved to Los Angeles last year, and seemed to have moved on from her former bae Rory Farquharson. The latter seems to be completely out of the picture now. Malia is currently pursuing a career as a screenwriter. She is currently working as a screenwriter on Donald Glover's upcoming Amazon show.
