Oscar-winning editor David Brenner died on Thursday, February 17, the news of which was confirmed by his wife Amber to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 59. The award-winning editor, who won the coveted Academy Award for his work on Oliver Stone’s ‘Born on the Fourth of July’, died at his home in West Hollywood.
The news of David Brenner’s death comes days after the legendary actor and comedian Louie Anderson died on January 21. He was admitted to the hospital days earlier after being diagnosed with cancer but sadly could not make it. Bob Saget is another icon that Hollywood lost on January 9. Speaking of celebrity deaths, Betty White died at 99 of natural causes on December 31, 2021. Chick Vennera, DMX, Jay Black, and Jeanette Maus are other public figures who passed away last year leaving their loyal fans devastated.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the award-winning artist died suddenly at his home. He was working on the footage of James Cameron’s Avatar sequels for the last one year. According to the publication, his wife stated, “We were spending a lot of time together.” Brenner also worked with Oliver Stone for his movies like ‘Platoon’ (1986), ‘Salvador’ (1986), ‘Wall Street’ (1987), ‘Talk Radio’ (1988), ‘The Doors’ (1991), ‘Heaven & Earth’ (1993), ‘World Trade Center’ (2006) and ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ (2010).
Zack Snyder, who worked with Brenner on both the 2017 original and extended version of Justice League as well as 2013's ‘Man of Steel’ and 2016's ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, paid tribute to him on Vero writing, “Devastated by the news that I lost my dear friend and collaborator David Brenner…The kindest man, A loving father and husband, A gifted artist…you'll be deeply missed.” David Brenner also got known for his editing skills on movies like ‘Independence Day’ (1996), ‘The Patriot’ (2000), ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ (2004) and ‘2012’ (2009), and a few others.
