'A total rock': Danny Masterson's wife Bijou Phillips walks hand in hand with him on first day of rape trial
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The rape trial of former 'That '70s Show’ star Danny Masterson, a member of the Church of Scientology, who is alleged to have sexually assaulted three women in different incidents between 2001 and 2003, began on Tuesday, October 18. The wife of the 46-year-old actor, actress Bijou Phillips, was spotted walking hand in hand with actor to the court, showing her full support to her husband on the first day of the trial. She was joined by his brothers Christopher and Jordan, his sister Alanna and Phillips' half sister and actress Mackenzie Phillips, The Daily Mail reported.
Standing like a rock with Masterson, who pleaded not guilty to three counts of forcible rape after being charged in 2020 and was out on a $3.3M bail, Phillips went through quite the scandal but managed to protect their two decades old marriage. According to an interview with Paper magazine via E! News, Phillips and Masterson met at a celebrity poker tournament in Las Vegas in 2005. While the two were seated next to each other, Phillips noted that Masterson paid her little attention. She said, "Every guy at the table was flirting with me but Danny. He wasn't laughing at my jokes. I was like, 'Who is this Danny Masterson and what does he think he's doing?'" It wasn't until after the game that the two realized how much they had in common.

Masterson also told the magazine, "I had only known her as the little crazy girl. After Vegas, and talking to her a few times, I was shocked by how unbelievably intelligent she was. She knew every book I had ever read. I was like, 'This girl is amazing.'" They bonded over music but also discovered they were members of the Church of Scientology. They also shared screen space on an episode of 'Raising Hope.' And in 2011, after seven years of dating, they got married at a private castle in Ireland.
On February 14, 2014, the couple welcomed their daughter Fianna. They announced the news on Instagram at the time, with Masterson sharing a photo of the child sleeping on his stomach. “Hello friends. Beyond thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter Fianna Francis Masterson!” 'The Ranch' star wrote in his caption and added, “Mom and baby are doing amazing. You can all refer to me as dj dadpants from now on.”
Amid the scandal, a source said as quoted by, US Magazine,"Bijou has been a total rock. She fully supports him and says they’ll get through this nightmare together and come out stronger.”
