'Dancing With The Stars' pros Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy tie the knot
'Dancing With the Star' couple Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy have officially tied the knot this Saturday evening at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, in a ceremony attended by family, friends and fellow dancers.
Clad in a fitted white wedding dress by Vera Wang, Jenna sported sheer sleeves and a turtleneck. Hair swept up in an elegant updo, she adorned it with a crystal hairpiece and a long veil designed by Bridal Styles Boutique, reports People. The dress was the first one Jenna had tried on while filming an episode of 'Say Yes to the Dress', at the famous Kleinfeld Bridal shop. Her sister-in-law, Peta Murgatroyd shared with Entertainment Tonight after the taping that Jenna's facial expression upon trying the dress on revealed: "that that was it". "When you know, you know," she said, adding that Jenna looked "like a beautiful princess, model, glamorous, goddess" in the gown she chose. Val, on the other hand, went for the classic look and looked every bit just as dapper in a tux by Brooks Brothers.
As the two DWTS choreographers exchanged their vows on April 13, their family members and closest pals surrounded them. Val's brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, was the Best Man, while Jenna's sisters (Jillian and Stacy Johnson), fellow DWTS pro, Lindsay Arnold, and 'So You Think You Can Dance' alum Gaby Diaz made up for her bridesmaids. Jenna had also revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that Adam Rippon, with whom she won her first ever DWTS mirrorball trophy, was also going to be 'brides-man'. As for Val, he was going to have a grooms lady too, in the form of wedding planner Nicole Volynets. Jenna had also teased that her brother in law, Maksim's two-year-old son, Shai, would also be walking down the aisle with her nieces.
Other DWTS pros who attended their wedding included Emma Slater and husband Sasha Farber, Witney Carson, and former contestants like Laurie Hernandez, Normani and Joe "Grocery Store Joe" Amabile, whose date was his girlfriend, Kendall Long. During the reception, Jenna changed into another stunning number created by Kleinfeld. The reception kicked off with the newlyweds' first dance to 'La Vie en Rose', as guests indulged in cakes from Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica, California, to music from Eli's Band.
Val had proposed to Jenna last year in June, during a gateway to Venice, Italy. "I knew the moment I met you, you were the man of my dreams and I wanted to be with you forever," Jenna had shared back then. "Thank you for making my fairytale come true today! Cannot believe I get to call you my FIANCÉ!!!!" She also gushed about how she can't wait to become "Mrs. Chmerkovskiy". "You know what, I'm going to have 13 letters in my last name now... I love it!" she exclaimed. "I was always just like a boring Johnson, like 'Jenna Johnson.' His [has], like, character — no one can say it right." She also quipped: "I'm tryna be Russian up in here," she continued. "Russian babies, Russian last name."
