Dana White shares his take on Clay Guida with Joe Rogan: 'How about the chin on him still'
AUSTIN, TEXAS: A UFC fighter with the longest tenure in history is Clay Guida, 41. He recently fought Joaquim Silva at UFC Austin but he had to face defeat.
After the fight concluded, UFC CEO Dana White disclosed what he had discussed about Guida with Joe Rogan.
At UFC 64 in 2006, Guida made his promotional debut under Dana White's banner. He has since kept up his fighting career under the UFC, recording 38 victories and 21 defeats.
At the post-fight news conference, Dana White shared his thoughts regarding UFC veteran Clay Guida, who at 41 still shows the same love for fighting. See what he had to say, then.
Dana White's take on Clay Guida
Dana White was questioned about Clay Guida's performance versus Joaquim Silva at UFC Austin during the press conference following the fight. After mentioning that Guida had been fighting for almost fifteen years, the CEO of the UFC revealed what he had told Joe Rogan about Guida.
“I was literally saying to [Joe] Rogan during the fight, ‘How about the chin on him still?'" Dana White said.
The 54-year-old promoter was suprised to see Clay Guida fight in the same manner that he has been fighting since joining the UFC. Dana White was amazed by that enthusiasm and intensity.
"The wars that guy has been in, and he still has a chin, and still willing to mix it up and stand in the pocket and trade [strikes]," he further stated.
Clay Guida vs Joaquim Silva
Even though Clay Guida is in his 40s, his years of expertise as an MMA fighter cannot be taken away. In his recent fight, he denied Joaquim Silva an easy victory. Guida continued his interesting UFC career at Moody Center with another bout. In an effort to apply pressure on Silva with some powerful combinations, he came out swinging.
But as his opponent delivered a strong uppercut, Guida got a bit too excited. Though the struggle did not conclude there, this nearly brought about the finish. The bout ultimately went the full three rounds, with Joaquim Silva winning by a unanimous decision after the judges scored him well.
