Creed over Kane Brown? Cowboys' halftime show dubbed 'awful', fans say 2001 performance could've 'saved 2020'

People watching weren't too happy with Brown's performance, as many took to social media to claim that Creed's 2001 performance would not only have been a better choice but beat Brown's by a longshot

This year on Thanksgiving, people's eyes were not only on the Macy's parade but the annual NFL Football game as well. This year the Cowboys' halftime show on Thanksgiving, was kicked off by the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign for holiday-time donations. The performer of the halftime show at AT&T Stadium was Chattanooga, Tennessee born, multi-racial country star Kane Brown, 27. Due to Covid-19, the performance of pre-recorded, as no on-field entertainment was allowed. It seems people watching weren't too happy with Brown's performance, as many took to social media to claim that Creed's 2001 performance would not only have been a better choice but beat Brown's by a longshot.

"Creed over Kane Brown for the Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show," wrote one viewer. Another added, "This Kane Brown TDay HT show is a total bust. Doesn’t hold a candle to Creed in ‘01" Yet another added, quite harshly for Brown, "How can the thanksgiving half time show over the years go from Creed to Kane Brown? Just a downgrade of astronomical proportions."

In 2001, American rock band Creed performed at the halftime show in Texas Stadium and their performance had been followed by the Broncos and Cowboys game. Many took to Twitter to post videos of the great Creed performance in 2001 - some posted fan-edited videos, others posted the entire performance. Some people were adamant that after such a hectic year this year, Creed would have been the best choice for the halftime show. "In the year of 2020 I feel like they should have brought back Creed for the Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show," wrote one fan. Another added, "I’m cool with Kane Brown but a Creed halftime show could’ve saved 2020."

"I only want Creed for my Thanksgiving halftime shows," wrote one fan. Nick Shook even added, "If we're gonna play a pre-taped halftime show, we might as well just run back that Creed Thanksgiving show from 2001". It seemed that people took to Twitter to not only claim that Creed would have been a better choice, but also slam Brown. "They really could’ve ran back the classic Creed meme but got Kane Brown being a simp for 20 minutes instead," wrote one viewer. Even the audiences that thought the perfromance was half-decent added, "Kane Brown is cool and all, but Creed would have been electric and exactly what we needed right now!"

As tweets continue to flood Twitter with the consensus being, Creed > Kane Brown, many took the time to also post Creed entire (or bite sixed content) 2001 performance - the unedited version. "I see a lot of reposting of Creed’s halftime performance but they’re all edited. This is the unedited version. Happy Thanksgiving," wrote one fan sharing the memory. Even Barstool tweeted the performance writing, "Never forget the greatest Thanksgiving performance of all time"
