Christopher Reeve 69th birthday: Here's what Superman's kids are up to
Google is honoring late actor Christopher Reeve with a doodle on September 25. Had the actor lived, the date would have marked his 69th birthday. Reeve died on October 10, 2004, at the age of 52, after an ulcer infection led him to receive an antibiotic, that led to a fatal cardiac arrest. Notably, that arrest came after Reeve attended his son Will's hockey game. To mark the occasion of Superman's birthday, here's a look at his where his children are now and what they are doing.
Unlike some celeb children, not all of Reeve's children- William, Matthew, and Alexandra - chose not to follow in their father's footsteps and enter Hollywood. Nonetheless, they've still made a name for themselves and frequently appeared in the news over the years. In April 2020, Will was caught pantless on 'Good Morning America', which quickly went viral. His siblings don't appear to have been involved in such gaffes but have gone on to achieve fame for other things.

If you are wondering about Reeve's wife, she died from lung cancer in 2006. Dana Reeve was only 44, and not a smoker. Nonetheless, the family has managed to overcome the tragedy and honor their parents through the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, amongst other things. Here's everything we know about William, Matthew, and Alexandra.
William Reeve
The youngest of the three, Matthew was born to Reeve and his second partner singer and actress Dana Morosini. He chose to pursue a career in the news industry and is currently a correspondent with ABC News. In fact, he was reporting on a story for ABC when he was caught without pants. Matthew has been working with ABC since November 2018, prior to which he was ESPN and MSG Networks. Since 2013, he has also served as a board member of the family foundation.
Reeve has appeared on 'Good Morning America' and 'The Pulse', and most recently covered the Afghan refugees at Ramstein Air Force Base. We know Reeve is dating Lexi Henkel, based on his Instagram profile, but it is unclear if the duo is married. Beyond that, not much is known about William. Most of his social media is filled with promotions of his work for ABC.
Alexandra Reeve Givens
Born to Reeve and his first partner, modeling executive Gae Exton, Alexandra is currently the President and CEO of the Centre for Democracy and Technology (CDT), a group focused on technology policy and democracy. She took on that role in May 2020, prior to which she worked at the Georgetown University Law Centre. Alexandra has also worked with the United States Senate, Columbia Law School, and served as an advisor for Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
In 2008, Alexandra married Garren Givens, after the duo met at Yale. They welcomed their first child, a son named Christopher Russel Reeve Givens, in June 2015. Named "after his grandfathers on each side," the news quickly went viral for being a tribute to Christopher. Beyond her professional life, not much is known about Alexandra. She appears to maintain a low-key private life, making regular appearances at the Reeve's family foundation events.
Matthew Reeve
The eldest of the three, Matthew was born to Exton and Reeve and decided to pursue his parents with a career in Hollywood. A director, writer, and screenwriter, Matthew is best known for producing 'Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion' and 'Christopher Reeve: Choosing Hope'. He also directed and produced 'Over The Water', a documentary about World Champion kiteboarder Aaron Hadlow.
For the past seven years, he's been working as a self-employed screenwriter, as well as a member of the Reeve foundation board. Unlike his siblings, Matthew maintains a very low profile, so it's not exactly clear what he is up to. IMDb has credited Matthew as a writer on 'Agent Hamilton' in 2020, his first credited role since the 2016 short 'Ladies Who Lunch'. Beyond that, he has been credited on several shorts and documentaries, as well as the 1997 MTV Europe Music Awards.
