Is Christina Applegate OK? Star speaks of 'tough' health battle, fans call her 'strongest lady'

Emmy award-winning actress Christina Applegate revealed that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The actress informed about the same via a Twitter post on Tuesday, August 10. Applegate, 49 was diagnosed a few months ago.

She wrote in her Twitter post, "Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It's been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition." She added, "It's been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it." Multiple Sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system corrodes the protective covering of nerves. It affects the central nervous system, which in turn, can affect the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

Christina Applegate further wrote, " As one of my friends that has MS said “ we wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo." The 'Dead to me' star has fought many health battles in the past including breast cancer. Applegate underwent a double mastectomy in 2008. Not only that but she's also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to avoid ovarian cancer in 2017. Speaking of her surgeries then, Applegate told 'Today', "That’s how I’ve taken control of everything,. It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table. Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus."



 

'Strongest lady around'

Fans of the actress flooded Twitter with messages of love and best wishes after the news of her diagnosis broke out. One user wrote, "Christina Applegate, aka strongest lady around. sending so much love." Another tweeted, "Sending love, light and prayers to Christina Applegate and all those living with MS." One tweet read, "I don’t know a stronger, braver and more courageous person than ⁦@1capplegate she will not be defined by this diagnosis and she will overcome any obstacle thrown her way. Asking everyone to send lots of love and positivity my friend’s way."
