Chris Rock has been receiving a lot of support post the infamous slapgate incident at Oscars 2022 and that was evident with the spike in the ticket sales of his standup comedy that commenced on Wednesday, March 30, at Wilbur Theater in Boston. The comedian told a Boston audience on Wednesday that he was "still processing" being slapped by Smith at the Oscars and that he will discuss it "at some point."

During the second night of the show, the Wilbur Theater crowd had "a lot of extra energy" and the audience's excitement was clear from the start of Rock's 8 pm concert, as told by a spectator. "Someone yelled 'f**k Will Smith,' and he went 'no, no, no,'" an audience member, who did not want to be identified, told New York Post. "[Rock] said it like five or six times as he walked across the stage," the woman recounted.

The 57-year-old comedian played down the incident on Thursday, focusing instead on his new material. "He kinda just shook it off," Adam Brown, a ticket holder, claimed, "He didn't want to talk about it." "He’s gotta take some time to really figure out how he wants to deal with it," an audience member named Kevin stated.

During the second night of Rock's performances in the old theatre, there was a sense of déjà vu. The comedian donned an all-white attire for the second night in a run, and a fan was removed for the second night in a row. Emily DePina, a Boston resident, screamed out to security as she was being led out of the club, "I didn’t do nothing. I didn’t do s**t! Yes, I’m drinking. Yes I had four shots… I don’t give a f**k, I’ll be honest."

"I paid $80 before this s**t happened," she stated, alluding to the smack. Alana Hylton, 35, sat next to DePina in the first row and was thrown out with her. "We weren't heckling Chris Rock. We had front row seats. We were endorsing him, responding to his jokes. He was interacting with us but security took us out," the Boston resident said.

"They came to us about three times. The first time, they said we were too loud, that we couldn't interact with someone on stage. The second time, they said we were heckling him. The third time…we switched seats and then I got kicked out. All we did was interact and respond to the comedian," said Hylton. "They are so afraid that someone is going to say something that they kicked us out before we could."

The raucous energy continued over to Rock's performance at 10 pm. "A couple times people yelled out 'Will Smith,'" said a ticket holder who only identified himself as John and was booted out for taking a photo. "People were egging him on but he wouldn’t bite. I bought a ticket on StubHub thinking he'd make a bit of it but he didn't," the fan explained.

According to one attendee, Rock did take the bait while responding to a loud-mouthed audience member during the 10 pm event. Christian Williams, 31, told The Post, "Some guy was heckling him and he said 'is that the Oscars security?' The guy was saying 'f**k Will Smith.' There were a lot of 'f**k Will Smith's.'"

On Friday, Rock was supposed to perform two more sets at the Wilbur before traveling to Atlantic City for a pair of gigs at the Borgata, where tickets were selling for more than $1,000 on secondary markets.
