Dave Chappelle tells Chris Rock he at least got slapped by a celeb, and the response is BRUTAL
The discussions about Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle’s respective on-stage attacks won't fade away anytime soon. So the two comedians provided their take as they took to the stage together to discuss the incidents on a “secret” comedy show. Chapelle was attacked by an alleged armed man, later identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, as he performed at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night, May 3.
On the other hand, Rock was infamously slapped by Will Smith during the Oscars in March after he apparently made fun of Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved look. The two men gave a surprise performance at The Comedy Store, in the club’s 70-seat Belly Room, Thursday night, May 5 as they were cheered on by a number of celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, Sean “Diddy” Combs, rapper Yasiin Bey and comedian Jeff Ross.

Chappelle performed first and he thanked people who contacted him after the assault. He said, “A lot of people love me, it turns out.” Soon, Rock joined him as the 48-year-old ‘The Closer’ star told him, “At least you got smacked by someone of repute! I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.” To which, Rock replied: “I got smacked by the softest n—a that ever rapped,” while laughing.
Chappelle then went on to reveal about his meeting with his alleged assaulter. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the father-of-three “asked Lee what possibly could have prompted his attack, to which Lee — who Chappelle said appeared to him to be mentally ill — offered a story about his grandmother from Brooklyn, who had been forced out of her neighborhood by gentrification. The attack was meant to draw attention to her plight.”
Meanwhile, a number of celebrities have come out in support of Chappelle. Comedian Kevin Hart said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”: “Somebody getting their ass whooped sends a message to other people, you know? I think that’s the world that we’re in right now. There’s a lot of lines that have gotten blurred. And sometimes you got to take a couple steps backwards to take some steps forwards.” Hart also applauded Chappelle and added: “Didn’t let that thing be a big thing. Quickly moved on from it and got back to doing comedy. And that’s what a professional does. Ultimately, you know, these moments of unprofessionalism should not break professionals.”
Radio personality Howard Stern too condemned the attack on his 'The Howard Stern Show' while saying: “I hate to say it but I've always thought, I told you I used to do live — America's Got Talent. I always thought it's these live shows and everything, it's crazy because people are getting nuttier and nuttier and they're going to use these opportunities to attack people.”
Slamming Hollywood, he stated: “Unlike the Academy Awards, Jamie Foxx came running out on stage and helped Dave Chappelle. Now here's the point I want to make about this and how f**ked up Hollywood is. Some people in the audience at the Academy Awards still should be very ashamed of themselves. I hope they are. This guy jumped up on stage and attacked Dave Chappelle. As soon as that happened, did they let him go back to his seat and laugh and sit next to his wife and then give them an award? No! They took him back stage, they broke his arms and hands so bad. They fucking beat the shit out of him. But! At the Academy Awards everyone came over and consoled Will Smith — because it was live television and Hollywood didn't know what to do about Will Smith.”
