Chadwick Boseman, mostly recognized for playing the superhero Black Panther, died at the age of 43. He was suffering from colon cancer. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much⁣. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side,” his family said in a statement. This year is just getting worse and his absence will be felt by movie fans across the globe.

Born on November 29, 1976, Chadwick was raised in Anderson, South Carolina, to African American parents, Carolyn, a nurse and Leroy Boseman, a textile factory businessman. His ancestral roots can be traced to Krio people from Sierra Leone, Yoruba people from Nigeria and Limba people from Sierra Leone.

On the romantic front, our beloved King of Wakanda was taken in 2019. A MediaTakeOut report said the actor popped the question to his longtime love Taylor Simone Ledward on a date in Malibu and she said yes. “Chadwick and Simone got engaged,” the friend shared. “It was a long time coming and everyone is really happy.” The same source also revealed that the two were hoping to get hitched early in 2020. At the time, eagle-eyed fans caught a big fat engagement ring on her finger at a Lakers and Clippers game at the Staples Center. Though the exact date of their wedding is unknown reports say he married Taylor before his death.

Not only was he a powerful actor but a bankable star as well. As per an Insider report, according to Forbes, producers of ‘Black Panther’ had spent $200 million to make the movie and another $150 million for its publicity. And when it released in 2018, the report states that it earned  $400 million domestically in the first 10 days ― the second-fastest behind only ‘Jurassic World’. And by the end of February that year, it had grossed past $700 million worldwide to become the highest-grossing film with a Black cast. As of August 2020, his net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth, was $12 million. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, sources say he was paid $2 million. However, the worth of his real estate properties are unknown. And who inherits his wealth is also not known.

He battled with cancer for four years and did not speak about it even once. It was only a couple of months ago that fans were bewildered after Chadwick appeared in an Instagram video looking “frail” and “hungry” even as only his upper body and neck could be seen. The hashtag #ChadwickBoseman soon started trending on Twitter. As no one really knew the reality about his health, many fans speculated it was because he was naturally thin and only bulked up for ‘Black Panther’.

His last released movie 'Da 5 Bloods' by Spike Lee had to be streamed on Netflix on June 12 this year due to Covid-19. According to AP, Boseman had completed filming the movie, which is an adaptation of August Wilson’s ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’. It is a Netflix film and had wrapped up shooting last summer. The film is directed by George C Wolfe and Denzel Washington is one of the producers. Along with Boseman, as reported by Deadline in 2019, the film will star Viola Davis, Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo and Michael Potts. The movie follows the 'Queen of the Blues' musician in a studio in Chicago, 1927, and the tension that erupts between her, her white agent and producer, and band members. According to EW, Boseman plays the role of Levee, a young ambitious trumpeter who wants to lead his own band one day. The report further states that it might be released later this year, and it was being discussed that Boseman’s performance was worth an Oscar nomination.
