The movie follows the 'Queen of the Blues' musician in a studio in Chicago, 1927, and the tension that erupts between her, her white agent and producer, and band members. According to EW, Boseman plays the role of Levee, a young ambitious trumpeter who wants to lead his own band one day. The report further states that it might be released later this year, and it was being discussed that Boseman’s performance was worth an Oscar nomination.
