'CBS Mornings' host Tony Dokoupil shares hilarious story about engagement to wife Katy Tur
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'CBS Mornings' host Tony Dokoupil took up one of the news segments on the talk show to share his woes about his engagement to now-wife Katy Tur.

Dokoupil revealed how it was quite embarrassing but only proved how much his wife has always loved him.
Tony Dokoupil's woes over diamond price cuts
'CBS Mornings' brought a recent update from the diamond market to the panel discussion.
According to Dokoupil's report, there has been a major dip in the prices of the precious gemstones. The reason behind this is the introduction of synthetic diamonds, which are gems created in a lab through chemical processes.

These diamonds are much cheaper and easily affordable for many which has caused their demands to reach sky-high numbers.
This, in turn, has caused the price of real diamonds to be cut down by a whopping 40% as a result of a decision by De Beers, who is one of the world's largest dealers of the gemstones.
Dokoupil was not quite excited over the news as he looked back on his very own purchase of a diamond for his wife, saying, "[it] is a discount I really could have used."
Tony Dokoupil went broke paying for wife's engagement ring
"When I bought Katy's engagement ring, I was so broke," the CBS host revealed as he continued, "I went and got the cheapest diamond that was close to the one that she wanted."
"And she didn't have like crazy wishes either," he went on, adding, "I had to the buy it on the store credit card. And then, I gave it to her and got engaged. I couldn't meet the payments!"
Dokoupil then said that Tur had to come in and be his savior when he was out of money. "I had to go to her for a loan," the host said, explaining, "Ultimately, she paid for her own engagement ring!"
"She stayed with you!" co-host Gayle King exclaimed in the background.
