'Carol's Second Act' revolves around Carol Kenney (Patricia Heaton), a retired teacher who has no idea what to do with life after her marriage comes to a sudden end. She then decides to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.

After completing medical school, Carol lands an internship at Loyola Memorial Hospital where she's first mistaken as a resident because of her age. Apart from Patricia, the series has a star-studded cast that includes Daniel Kutcher (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), Lexie Filani (Sabrina Jalees) and Caleb Sommers (Lucas Neff) who play the role of other interns in her group.

Ito Aghayere plays the role of Carol's superior Chief Resident Dr. Maya Jacobs.

Though Carol seems to be getting along with most of her group members, she and Dr. Maya always get off on the wrong foot because Carol is a chatty person, and Dr. Maya isn't.

In an interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), Aghayere opens up about this particular plot, and shares what the future holds for Dr. Maya and Carol and if they will eventually get along.

Sharing that she doesn't want to spoil it, Aghayere reveals that "there's a lot that goes down between Carol and Dr. Maya."

"I have a lot of people in medicine in my own family and one of the things I've learned from watching them do their work day-to-day is because there is so much of work in keeping people alive and healthy," she points out.

"It's stressful and you really depend on the people who you work with and I think that is no different than what happens in the show," Aghayere shares.

She continues, "On a side note, our great hope is that people in the medical field will watch the show and they'll see and recognize people they know if not themselves in the show."

"So when it comes to Maya and Carol's relationship, it's no different. They work in a very intimate space in which they need each other whether or not they acknowledge that," Aghayere says.

She adds that at some point Carol and Dr. Maya come to need each other and admire and respect each other. "Because that's what has to happen. If you're working at a hospital and you want to do your job."

Adding to that Aghayere reveals that there is a lot of shenanigans that Carol and Dr. Maya get into, but overall they will have to learn how to get along and do their jobs.

Earlier, the actor has also shared with MEAWW how the show is about "real men and real women who are authentic and funny".
