It's finally Patricia Heaton's time to shine and get her spotlight with 'Carol's Second Act' that premiered on Thursday night on CBS.

The veteran actress is amongst the most loved sitcom actresses thanks to her appearance on fan-favorite shows that include 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and 'The Middle'. But now, after a long time, she finally got the due lead role she deserved with CBS's new sitcom titled 'Carol's Second Act'.

Heaton plays the role of Carol Kenney, a divorced mom who recently retired as a teacher. Wanting to follow her longtime dream of becoming a doctor, she heads on to medical school to accomplish what she added on her vision board. With just one episode over, Heaton's appearance on the newly released sitcom has received rave reviews from fans who are glad that she finally got the spotlight she deserved.

In an interview with CBS, Heaton revealed how ecstatic she is to finally be number one on the call sheet. "When I did 'Raymond,' Ray was number one on the call sheet. He came out and grabbed the mic and talked to the audience. Then I did a show with Kelsey Grammer and he was the one that came out and grabbed the mic and talked to the audience. So, it's my turn," Heaton shared.

In the first episode, we see Carol (Heaton) join Loyola Memorial Hospital as an intern along with Daniel Kutcher (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), Lexie Filani (Sabrina Jalees) and Caleb Sommers (Lucas Neff). Apart from learning to work with the other interns who are much younger than her, she also has to learn to work under her superior Chief Resident Dr. Maya Jacobs (Ito Aghayare) who is also younger than she is.

Apart from playing the lead role in the sitcom, Heaton is also the executive producer for the series. After watching the first episode, fans took to Twitter to share their love for the actress and how excited they are that she finally got her own lead role in the show.

"Nice job, Patricia! I've missed your great delivery and comedic timing. Looking forward to see what Carol's next adventure at Loyola will be. Welcome back," a fan wrote on Twitter. While another added, "Patricia Heaton is one of the most underrated comedians of our era. So happy shes finally in a lead of her own . #CarolsSecondAct."

"@PatriciaHeaton has a new show #CarolsSecondAct and everything she touches turns to Emmy gold. Enjoy being employed for the next 9 years cast of #CarolsSecondAct." wrote another fan.

'Carol's Second Act' airs every Thursday night only on CBS. Check your local listings for more information.
