'Best thing that happened to me': Cardi B fulfills community service by dancing at NYPD's 'Girl Talk' event
QUEENS, NEW YORK: Cardi B has been attending events at the NYPD Academy for a mentorship program as part of her court-ordered community service. The 'WAP' rapper, 30, has been working with teenage girls in a program called 'Girl Talk' as part of her 15-day service commitment instead of doing the typical physically demanding service work.
The rapper went to the NYPD Police Academy in Queens on Friday, February 24, for what looks to be a formal appearance she planned with some higher-ups in the force, reported TMZ. She spoke about the experience on Twitter, saying, "Community service has been the best thing that has happened to me. Almost like a spiritual journey because sometimes I leave these centers in tears. Those people that we leave behind they just need somebody to talk and a lil push and YOU might be able to change their life forever."

"My brains are burning from waking up early, community service then studio….but I did the crime. I only have myself to blame," she tweeted Friday morning. She seemed to be joking here, given that true community service is frequently time-consuming, labor-intensive, and performed on the side of a road. In this instance, it seems as though she simply popped up at the Academy for some face time with cadets before leaving.

The 'UP' singer looked amazing in a mirror selfie that accompanied the post. She sported a high-end ensemble: an expensive cropped beige bomber jacket over a black shirt, white slacks, a black Chanel beanie, and brown-heeled boots. In photos and videos posted by people on social media, the 'Bodak Yellow' hitmaker was seen dancing and enjoying with the police academy girls.

What is Cardi B's court case about?
The court case comes from a brawl back in August 2018, when she allegedly ordered an attack on two bartenders the rapper believed were having an affair with her husband, Offset. The 30-year-old was able to get rid of 10 charges against her but pleaded guilty in September to two misdemeanor charges of assault in the third degree and reckless engagement. The mother of two agreed to a three-year order of protection from the women involved in the fight, and a slate of community service duty. Cardi B has extended her community service deadline to March 1, which expired last month, as per PEOPLE.
