Cara Williams, who scored an Oscar nominee for ‘The Defiant Ones’, died on Thursday, December 9, 2021. She was 96. The sad news of her demise was confirmed by her daughter Justine Jagoda. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, she said, “My mom was a loving soul, she would take you in her arms and always help you.” The iconic actress suffered a heart attack on Thursday at her home in Beverly Hills. Cara was also known for her Emmy-nominated performance in CBS’ sitcom ‘Pete and Gladys’.
Cara, who was born as Bernice Kamiat, also worked alongside Audrey Hepburn in her first feature, titled ‘We Go to Monte Carlo’ in 1951. Cara, born in June 1925, started working as an actress in her childhood. Speaking of her marriages, the legendary actress got lucky in love thrice. She first married Alan Gray in 1945. The couple shared a daughter named Cathy Gray. Their marriage, however, ended after two years. Cara then tied the knot with John Drew Barrymore in 1952. John was one of the renowned actors of his time. He was the son of movie legend John Barrymore and the father of actress Drew Barrymore.
Cara and John also had a son named John Blyth Barrymore, who is now a former actor. The duo had soon trouble in paradise as they parted their ways in 1959. Cara's last marriage to Asher Dann lasted until he passed away in 2018 at the age of 83. He was a real estate entrepreneur based out of Los Angeles. On the work front, Cara bagged coveted supporting roles in movies such as ‘Boomerang!’, ‘The Girl Next Door’ and ‘The Helen Morgan Story’ among others.
