Cara Delevingne feared she would 'end up dead' if she didn't get treatment for alcohol addiction
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cara Delevingne, had shocked her fans when photos of her looking disheveled went viral in 2022. There were pictures of her acting erratically at Los Angeles' Van Nuys airport following her attendance at the Burning Man festival, plastered all over the Internet. A lot was speculated about what made the actress behave in such a manner including her personal relationships and erratic lifestyle. Delevingne who has been upfront about her drug usage also revealed her alcohol addiction which caused her to act out. She has now expressed how happy she is now that she is four months sober since the incident. Delevingne had pleaded with individuals who share her condition to seek help after experiencing a wake-up call with the 2022 incident.
The English model, 30, confessed that she had sought therapy for drug abuse after realizing she was in a "bad" position after seeing alarming paparazzi photos of herself in an interview with Vogue. Delevingne told the magazine, "At that point, there was a lot of people who were very worried, understandably so, but I wasn’t really worried, though... but that is the nature of the disease. That is what addiction is." Delevingne now shared in an Instagram post how she wants to use the incident to 'learn and heal' and eventually came to the conclusion that she needed to enroll in a 12-step rehab program for long-term treatment as she aimed to 'change the direction of her story'.

'Treatment was the best thing'
The 'Paper Towns' star shared, "All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid. That was scary. Treatment was the best thing. It was always something I was very scared of, but I think I needed that community. I needed that support group."
Delevingne has had a strong support group all this while. When all the incidents surrounding her erratic behavior started circulating online the model's inner circle insisted she start rehab. There was even talk of staging an intervention of sorts to force her to realize the gravity of the situation reported TMZ at the time. Soon after the star's public meltdown, Margot Robbie who co-starred with Delevingne in the film 'Suicide Squad' rushed to her pal's house and was seen leaving the property in tears indicating that Delevigne's problems were far more serious than thought.
How long has Cara Delevingne maintained her sobriety?
Delevingne referred to the Christmas and New Year's Eve she spent with her girlfriend, singer Leah 'Minke' Mason, in December 2022 as her favorite holiday season to date. She said, "I'm enjoying [sobriety]. It's one of my favorite things to, like, go out and dance and have a good time but actually have, like, deep conversations and connections with people."
Delevingne continued by saying that because it is something she is "constantly doing," she preferred the term "healing" to "recovery." She has been sober for four months and counting thanks to therapy, yoga, and ongoing treatment.

This other person wrote, "So glad to see more people speaking out about their struggles and the road to recovery. Hopefully this will help end the stigma and more people will seek help."
