NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Cara Delevingne, the actress who is gender fluid and bisexual, says she is more comfortable with herself than ever after battling years of internalized homophobia and crippling shame over her sexuality.

According to the Mirror, the 30-year-old said, “I couldn’t talk to anyone about it. I had a lot of internalised homophobia and shame. I thought that I was abnormal." She further added, “I thought about ending my life, like I had multiple times, and I’m so glad I didn’t because if I can help any other kid that means the world to me. It means the world to that little queer kid I was. Or I am.”

'Planet Sex' explores the various pleasures and mysteries of human sexuality throughout the world while Cara shares her own tales. With more long-term relationships with women, Cara said she felt suicidal a number of times as she struggled with feeling different while growing up.

She shared that making the documentary has changed her life and hoped that 'Planet Sex' will help people struggling with their sexuality like she did.

Cara said, “It has very much changed my life. Now I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I feel really, really proud of what we created."

Referring to 'Planet Sex', the six-part BBC3 series, Cara said the series “made me want to be louder about what I believe in. It’s time to stop hiding” as it talks vividly about desire, attraction, and sexuality.

“I know I shouldn’t feel shame but I truly believe there are souls like me all over the world," she said. Cara said the documentary-making process was an experience that helped her feel more rooted in the LGBT community.

Cara said, “In the world that I live in, most of my friends are straight," and "I’d never been to Pride before making this show. I have a lot more queer friends now".

She further explained, “If we can change anyone’s minds to be more willing to accept themselves, or someone else, that’s all I want.”

'Planet Sex With Cara Delevingne' also features Berlin-based dancer Darvish. The BBC3 series, which released in the United Kingdom on November 18, will premiere in the US on streaming service Hulu on Tuesday, November 29, at 3 am.
