Cannes 2019 Days 5, 6: Andie MacDowell, Heidi Lushtaku and He Sui join ranks of worst-dressed celebrities
The 72nd edition of Cannes Film Festival 2019 is in full swing and the cinematic celebration has drawn actors, actresses, directors and producers to the French Riviera.
The proceedings kicked off last Tuesday with a star-studded opening ceremony featuring the likes of Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Julianne Moore and Nadine Labaki. From there on, things just got increasingly glamorous on the red carpet.
While we were impressed with most of the outfits, here the ones that failed to meet the mark:
1. Lady Victoria Hervey
To be honest, Lady Victoria Hervey looked pretty beautiful in the Christophe Guillarme gown. Although she did look like an art-piece turned into couture, the white leotard on the inside took the sheen away from the gown and the crotch area seemed a little too risque after the nip-slip situation a few days ago.
2. Valerie Pachner
The Austrian actor chose to wear a gold net halterneck dress on a white flowy bodysuit. We get that it may get cold but she should've probably opted for a jacket, or anything else. We're calling this one a major red carpet fail.
3. Zahia Dehar
The French-Algerian model chose to wear a black floral tight-fitted dress. The dress was sheer and clearly ill-fitted. It left us hoping there was no spillage. Let's just say we're not impressed.
4. Kimberley Garner
A lot of actors at the premiere played it safe and this was the worst way of doing that. Garner looked beautiful but the jewelry and the fit of the gown failed to do her justice.
5. Alice Dutoit
Alice Dutoit aka Alice on the Roof chose to wear a one-shouldered black top with a pale pink fringed skirt. Although the outfit matched her hair, it just failed to match the vibe. The fringes were oddly placed and the dress was ill-fitted. Moreover, her make-up just didn't match the rest of the outfit.
6. Heidi Lushtaku
Heidi Lushtaku wore a sheer corset-like Dessenge Paris dress which had multiple layers of ruffles. She paired them with white Schutz booties and a choker and studded hanging earrings. It was a brave choice for the red carpet, but we failed to see the glamour in the 'less is more' rendition of this outfit.
7. Andie MacDowell
Andie wore a structured one-shoulder white top which boasted a stunning white train. She teamed the garment with a pair of billowing grey trousers and black strappy heels. She added touches of glitz to her attire with a sparkling diamond bangle and a pair of delicate drop earrings. MacDowell tried but the pants were a complete no-no. We understand the concept of comfort on the red carpet, but this is not it.
8. Toni Garrn
It wasn't her, it was the dress. Toni Garrn wore a red, purple and white Ralph and Russo one-shouldered dress. The white train didn't make sense and it took away all the attention from Garrn herself.
9. Leyna Bloom
Leyna Bloom wore a gold triangular embellished Alberta Ferretti sheer gown. Although it was a bold choice, the outfit itself looked very odd and failed to rise to the occasion.
10. He Sui
Wearing a black and pink mermaid cut Ralph and Russo couture gown, He Sui failed to impress. The sheer gown gave way to a weird crotch malfunction and took away all the attention. Moreover, the jewellery was way off and the whole look could have been executed better.
